I’m starting to get yahoo’d out

It's better than Cat Crave whose main writer seems more interested in shocking headlines, manufactured stories and and clickbait. Sometimes an inferior site and other sites follow that same modus operandi depending upon the writers. I'm getting to the point where I see one and say, "Oh that was written by Dean Jones," and I don't even click on it.

There has been a decided lack of quality Panthers articles this year. All I can think is that Tepper and the FO must be affecting indepent news sources behind the scenes very negatively.

Jones tries to use those big fancy words, uses phrases like “those in power” and “surplus to requirements”over and over and he ends up making himself look stupid.

The thing that surprises me, also infuriates me is the small misses in editing these days. In this article it said Scourton was a third round pick. Yes, Cat Crave does go with sensationalist headlines and once you click its nonsense. Who would think we'd long for the Gaston Gazette days!

It’s because a lot of the yahoo type stuff is just “yahoo” sponsored garbage. And they just have to run it through grammatical AI correction rather than actual fact checking.

a fun edit/add:

The CatCrave site mentioned is hosted by Fansided, and it basically does what influencer channels now do on Youtube with their titles.  It's an article title that is not properly reflecting reality.  Using WAY too active of words to describe benign things to get clicks--

From that site:

"Troubling injury update on pivotal veteran has Panthers fans on edge"

Translation: Damien Lewis is week-to-week, should be good for week 1.

-

"Panthers’ crucial summer battle ends in sudden conclusion for one big reason"

Translation: Corbett wins the center job as expected

SCOURTON

"While there will be a learning curve for the soon-to-be 21-year-old, the explosiveness and power from Scourton already translates. It’s fun watch Nic Scourton’s power and explosiveness."

THORNTON

"Thornton has good size and length at 6-foot-1 and possesses the physical temperament that could be helpful in man-to-man looks. He is physical in coverage, especially press-man"

-----------------------

Redundancies in back to back sentences? Smells like an AI article to me, or at least assisted and not proofread.

Most of this drivel is AI generated. It's pathetic.

All of the yahoo articles being linked are simply pasted PanthersWire (USAToday) material.  They credit at the bottom through a link (profile: Jared Feinberg - Writer @ThePanthersWire Contributor. NFL Draft analyst. Autistic. Opinions are fluid. #WNCStrong)

So linking to a site that pastes articles produced by another site.  It's all just content aggregation on wire platforms

I hate media these days so much...flames, on the side of my face

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
