Would have made sense before the draft, but now that we drafted Scourton and Princely, it just doesn’t make sense to give up players, picks, and the contract for a soon to be 31 year old.

Sure, he could be really good for us and improve the defense, but it would be at the direct cost of developing players who could play here at a high level more then 3 years down the road from now, unlike Trey would.

While I agree with your overall sentiment, with our recent draft history, if it only cost a 3rd rounder, I wouldn’t miss it for what we’re getting in a known commodity in Hendrickson.

I mean, look, if we could get him for say Wonum, Moore, and a 4th, and then he’d be okay getting $20 a year for 3 years with just 40 guaranteed, then sure, I’m in.

But I think it would cost us more than that in trade capital and a decent amount more money too.

Yes we might only have rotational or backup rushers as they currently stand.  But I think there is a real possibility that Scourton and Princely could be our starting edge rushers for years to come, maybe as early as next year.

Trey is someone you’ll get 3 years out of hopefully, I’d rather gamble on us finally hitting on some 2nd and 3rd rounders to have as starters on cheap deals for a few years than give up the capital and cap room for a 3 year rental.

You are dreaming

Now, before any poos, I don't want us to do it, I'm just saying this.  When I saw it say they want a player and a pick, I got to thinking, what player would even qualify.  Jaycee wouldn't because of his contract and the whole thing is that Cincinnati doesn't have money.  Same with Derrick brown.  Everyone else in defense is either straight rookie or expensive vet, too much for their liking.  I love our relievers, but that's not a position they need even a little...then I got to the player I think Cincinnati would target.  Ikey.  A rookie contract with 5th year still available.  I think the compensation is along the lines of ikey and a 2nd or 3rd.  Still don't wanna do it for a year that we MAY make a push, but food for thought in what I'm guessing they want in comp.

I would say that is highly unlikely simply because it immediately hampers what they are trying to do with Bryce. We don't have a good replacement for him. BC is not a capable LT and Yosh is fuging terrible.

I would think the player/players we gave up are likely veterans with limited value.

David Moore?

He has no value to them. He isn't a tradeable asset.

The rub is that he is going to want a big contract because it is likely his last chance. $20 mil is very unlikely to work.

That's the real thing about all this, you have to be sure you can extend him or it was all for naught.

This is like saying "yeah, I'd trade a double wide trailer, an '82 Firebird that's not running, and a scratch off lottery ticket for your mansion... oh, and I'm only willing to pay half the property taxes"

This isn’t Madden where you could send DJ Johnson straight up for him

I think the package and contract end up being close to the Metcalf deal but hopefully 3 year and not 4

Typical Panthers.

While clearly talented he will be 31 in December and wants to maximize what will likely be his final chance at a big contract.

It would be one thing to give up draft picks. But to potentially trade a player or player(s) and pay him a record contract? With the state of the depth across our roster? If true. This smells of Tepper. And as such we can dispense with any past notion that Morgan is actually in the driver's seat.

They aren’t going to get their asking price. Bengals aren’t going to trade him to a division rival. He will go to Indy most likely.

You could probably get him for Corbett OR Christensen, One of the rookie edges OR Wonnum and like a 3rd.

but I’m not really a fan of it.

I am considerably more worried about the picks than the players. We have very few players that are irreplaceable.

If a first is even on the table for our FO we're cooked for the foreseeable future boys.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
