Interested to see what they’re publicly-stated reason is for signing Perkins?

The front office, like the rest of us, never want to see Dalton or Plummer take the field again. They will have to anyway but want to minimize the horrible optics. This probably wont be publicly stated though. lol

Morgan should be embarrassed and feel shame watching those two play.

Evero and Canales will call plays Thursday.

Jonathan Cooley did in WK1, Pete Hansen in WK2 for the defense.

Brad Idzik called offense first two weeks. #Panthers

Ooo. I didnt know that Hansen had called week 2. Now I gotta watch both again and see what the "core" plays are that they both called and if they had different styles/tendencies based on their specialization(s).

Ikem Ekwonu and Jaycee  Horn just got into it pretty good. Ekwonu pushed him and Horn swung.

We’ve got a scrum between the offense and defense, Moehrig hit the back of Ewonku’s helmet after he got into it with another defensive lineman. We already back to drills though…

Scuffle! A big mass of #Panthers players physical after the play. Tough to see who started it, but Jaycee Horn, Tre’Von Moehrig, Ickey Ekwonu all involved.

Dave Canales was seen smiling from afar. This practice needed some energy, tbh.

Temper still flaring after practice between Ickey and Jaycee Horn, and Chuba Hubbard and Nick Scott.
Austin Corbett did his best to keep the peace.

Canales joked that he may have pushed the team a little hard. Last padded practice for starters. There was some pushing and punches thrown late.

Canales is serious about considering himself a developmental coach. That includes staff development, evidenced by the preseason operation approach

I understand what his intent is. It makes sense

I also disagree with it being best practice for this #Panthers team in this moment

i have to say… i do agree with this take.

I know Evero prefers smaller, more agile defenders at the nose vs. the prototypical 3-4 NT but surely to god we aren't actually going to play a 6' 280 pounder there.

I would imagine that would only be for obvious pass rushing downs where the NT could hopefully shoot the gap (or stunt with the DE) before the IOL can figure out blocking assignments. I'm grasping at straws though

Would have made more sense if they called plays week 1 or 2. No point in calling plays for your 3rd and 4th stringers that are playing Thursday

I have to assume it is some trolling job. We can't actually be that stupid......right??

Well, you do have to also consider that they are pretty well set on who the starters are. It's the cut line and reserves they are evaluating in game 3. I would guess that is the reason.

    • This is about getting open and YAC....and the QB we have.  You basically are just highlighting average depth when targeted vs 2 players. .  And yeah, I often say AT is a small slow reliable TE in terms of what he does for us.   That's what he is.   I think a couple of you want to make this into a Renfrow argument.   I'm a Renfrow fan.  Renfrow does not check the box of what a BY O needs either at the slot.  Renfrow just a niche roleplayer at this level.  it's easy to look up how horrific AT is with the ball in his hands and in terms of getting open.....and it's also easy to look up what a low ceiling of an offense the steady AT diet produces w/ BY.
    • The one time he's actively tried to lose was the best we've ever done.
    • I simply acknowledge BY is the QB.  And just like we did when we drafted him.....the type O you would need to setup around him for success was always pretty simple.  But we have done virtually the opposite.  XL dropping some passes isn't why we were ranked the 32nd O and 30th passing the past 2 years.  *Ricky Prohel was brought up only in regards to role function he served on the team.  Niche/specialist.   He wasn't eating up the snaps in the O.    AT should have a similar snap %. People could MAUL Ricky Prohel and put hands all over him.   We got to the Super Bowl in part because we were mauling guys (our slot CB).   You can't do that now.  AT has a MUCH easier life and still can't get open.  Or run.    If you live in 3 WR sets, with a weak armed QB, and you choose to put someone who can't get open or run in the slot.......well, your are going to have a weak pass O.  That's by design IMO.
