It's not a true pick swap because the years are different. They are trading lower third of the round picks for top 10 in the round picks, though.

I would say they did win this trade.

They got a good deal being a potential playoff team in need. We basically got a 4th (rest of the picks basically cancel out). That’s not bad for trading a 1 more year player on a not so playoff potential team.

Well, now the Renfrow release makes no sense. Even if the hammy was lingering just put him on PUP while he rests up.

Coker and Horn Jr.

Told everyone they were higher in Horn then it looked. Also said that Thielen was pushing for the trade internally. So he gets what he wants and the Panthers got there 4th plus 5th. lol

I don't know that the Vikings are a contender. Generally whenever they're expected to be really good, they suck (source: my dad, who's been a Minnesota fan for more than 55 years).

Probably just wanted to retire there and give it a shot one more time.

good/great defense, great weapons once everyone gets back, a good oline, all they need is the qb just to be okay and they are going to win a lot of games, but it is a brutal division

Morgan went from having leverage to that.  Yeah man I gotta think Theilen and his wife pushed hard.  I guess that was bullshit about coming back for bryce lol

We basically got a 4th. The 2026 5th is worth the same as a 2027 5th plus a 2026 7th (which is worth almost nothing).

I’m sure Theilen is happy but getting a 4th ain’t bad. I am still amazed at how much people feel we lost a player who wasn’t getting us to the playoffs and was going to take reps from the guys we need to be better.

he got to help coach our young WRs through training camp and preseason. I don't mind the pick swaps because this front office actually knows how to draft quality players in the later rounds. Gets rid of his cap hit too? Yeah he's good, but we've got a lot of young talent that gets more snaps now.

Hopefully we look back on this as a good move made by everyone. If not? Then it's just another day in the office.

The #Panthers aren't picking up any of Adam Thielen's remaining salary in the trade, per league source.

My thing is, with the cap room we have we could have afforded to pick up his salary to get a better draft pick. I’d be fine if the Panthers picked up his whole salary and got a 2026 3rd instead of a 2027 4th. Who knows if that was even a possibility though.

sure, and its going to come in handy down the road, but imo AT on the team this year is more valuable then a 2027 pick simply for bryce

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
