Oh lord, of course he does. Yeah, you're probably right. If Renfrow was bigger he could've won an MMA fight with the DB and still caught that under thrown wounded duck and if he was 6'2" with a 40" vertical maybe he could've reeled in that ball that sailed over his head along the sideline.

It's wild how that guy will crucify receivers but just give Bryce pass after pass. Maybe he sees himself in Bryce - a guy who has marginal at best NFL talent but could have maybe succeeded if he was surrounded by a cast of All-Pros.

I am beginning to think he is a RAS acolyte, as well. Future GM?

Speaking of preseason, I remember people saying preseason doesn’t mean anything, even when you go 0-3. Yesterday looked like another 2025 preseason game.

Well, when you stink I guess it's a perpetual preseason.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say we lose to Arizona next week as well. I had predicted we go 0-2 to start the season and the true team will show up week 3. I'm trying to stick to that but they are not looking good.

Except when it comes to the QB position. Everyone else evidently exists to carry the QB.

Sounds like a Tepper era Panthers GM to me.

I am not seeing a path TO beating Arizona, minus Kyler getting injured. He didn't get knocked out by the Hershey squirts last week and got them piloted to a W.

Corbett was exceptionally bad yesterday and Bryce had trouble with the pressure. The coaching staff is playing the wrong players. Or Bryce is wanting Austin instead of Mays.

Eye test said the secondary did good, I think Wallace and the turnovers almost single handedly tanked the defense yesterday. But that is still on Evero and Morgan, because it was inexcusable to go into the season with this as your linebacking crew.

That is what happens when you start Nijman at LT for reasons I don't know...

Edit: Also curious if Bryce was dropping back in the pocket too far like he often did his rookie year. Didn't pay enough attention and started tuning in to other games once I realized the team didn't show up

I'd have to go back and watch the 22, but he's always had a tendency to drift early in his drop back plus he misses line reads like crazy.

I mean, the path to beating AZ is repeating the plan that beat them last year....which really looked like the initial plan on Sunday.   Which is run the ball.  Hope AZ makes some mistakes. Ask BY to do little and not fug it up.  BY fugged it up Sunday.

The Saints were fairly efficient versus Arizona in the run game. Instead they opted to throw the ball 46 times with their version of Bryce Young.

We will see but I wouldn't get my hopes up because mobile QB's usually nuke our defense.

The thing is... He wasn't a great processor in college. He relied on wide open players and being off schedule to look good.

He constantly missed line reads that lead to him taking a sack or having to go off schedule. Then he had happy feet which made the line reads and always being off schedule even worse.

I literally just don't get why he was so highly ranked. It baffles my mind.

I think him playing for Bama had a lot to do with it.

    • Actually, it's an age-old problem. Nobody wants to admit they were wrong & don't do anything to correct, thinking tomorrow will prove them right. The problem blew up to outer space levels as the internet expands with the problem reaches almost every facet of life as we know it. I recall the levels of hype preceding the Fitterer/Frank/Young combo that was going to rule the NFL for years. Hundreds of Huddle pages & thousands of posts over the past 3 years later, there are still posters who still point fingers, never admitting any failure on their part.
    • This is Canales second season. He has officially coached 1 season and 1 game. He made Bryce look decent for a bit. At some point, you have to cut bait with Bryce.  I think Morgan has been digging his way out of a hole forced on him to trade up in 2023 to get Bryce. Tepper wanted his guy, GM and coach be damned. That's on Tepper, not Morgan. Trying to work around that isn't easy and we still deal with the repurcussions.  I'd be fine keeping Canales if we do decide to move on from Bryce. I think he could be a great Head Coach, given a QB with the right measurables. Defensive development takes time and unfortunately we traded up to get Bryce when we had a roster unready for a rookie QB, and then we traded away assets that would have been used to build a core of talent.
    • Bryce played bad on Sunday. I understand a lot of teams have bad Week 1s so comparing a bad QB play across the league might make it look more normal. The issue with this is a lot of these other QBs have way more games of solid QB play so they are looking more like a typical week 1 outlier. Bryce doesn’t have that luxury right now. He can still turn it around but it needs to be done sooner vs later. He controls his own destiny this year.
