Ouch!!!

What makes it worse is I think every other suggestion the huddle made would have been good picks lol
Round 1:

Round 2:

Round 3:

Re-reading this, most of the huddle hated that draft from the get go too

ACL is a non factor anymore with modern sports medicine. I get it, it's an injury and gotta evaluate it, but ACLs just aren't a big deal anymore

you literally called people idiots for saying we didnt like the Brooks pick.   Followed by this gem.

Huddle hates it = guaranteed slam dunk

We were calling this draft poo in real time and you were too busy booing and insulting us, who is laughing now.  The 2024 draft is indeed poo

You save posts from 18 months ago? Do you have a folder of them saved ready to search through? Lol Jesus Christ brother. Feel free to take the slam dunk you obviously need it more than I do. The Panthers FO and I were wrong you were right on Brooks ACL.

You know these threads are archived right? No one needs to save posts. I did not look up that thread or link that thread someone else did. I only quoted it out of amusement at how inept we are as a franchise and how we as fans rationalize that ineptitude even when it's something as glaringly dicey as drafting a player with a major injury. You're getting mad at the wrong person regardless. Maybe direct this energy at our current GM who is the former right hand man of the worst GM of any team in recent memory 🤷‍♂️

That wasn't even your post genius.

To be honest with you I have no need to converse with you since you have revealed yourself to be someone who lowkey despises the only MVP of this franchise. Be gone.

Its definitely dog doo doo right now I was on the record wanting Mconkey and Frazier...

I have little hope of that draft getting better but it still has time.

Also I literally said "the idiots are out in force" I never specified who lol. Right now i would deff be among them. Who knows what happens we had a guy come back from 3 ACLs.

So again call anything whatever you want its still beyond your controll at this point i think you just love misery.

How do you know this?

To get into the NFL, you generally need one of two things to happen.

Family inside door

Be invited to intern as a scout for a team or the scouting intern combine "yes this exists". Usually a dozen intern spots available each year combined.

Once in the door, you generally don't leave and just move teams. Most people aren't fired and never back on a team.

Take the Panthers director for example and he had a family in with the NFL with his father being a former WR coach.

He went from College football to scouting intern for the Texans 2008-2009 and then Tampa from 2010-2012, Jacksonville from 2013-2020 and Joined Carolina in 2021 and has been promoted twice now.

there was a honeypot of talent at the end of first/top of 2nd and we took at 3rd round talent at best in a trade up lol

Ladd, Frazier, Sainristil, DeJean, there was a lot

Why would we want Ladd ?
Without XL we wouldn't have:
a) raccoon sandwiches

b) A stunning physical specimen that can't catch . . . or think (thrown out of preseason game for fighting, run out of bounds while looking for camera instead of sideline, misses assignments.

c) World class personality whose performance appears to lag well behind his headlines. His size seems to be a plus but he quickly ate dirt after being bumped by one safety and thought he'd knock out another one until that guy put him on the ground after dodging his flurry of air boxing.

McConkey is boring in comparison - no foods named after him - no videos to hear his accent- he's too busy catching balls and making plays to be a interesting character.

Brooks was a risk as well as Wallace.  No matter who our GM is, we are always taking "surprise players", believing we know something others don't and it turns out the others knew something we didn't.

We'd honestly be better off just making a list combining several draft boards and picking the highest rated player when our turn comes.

Haha

One thing I know is that I'm not one to complain in retrospect much, only when it's super damn obvious.  That draft was soooo damn obvious. So f*cking clear what we needed to do.  And it was hard to stomach for a lot of us.  I was not a Legette fan, just had to accept it and hope he was aight.

It was just like Mingo.  A guy most consensus had late 2nd/early 3rd at best.  If anything, Legette was a bigger reach than Mingo.  And we all felt it for some time after that draft.  It didn't feel good.

If anyone goes back, I was a Frazier, Sainristil, Pearsall, and Kneeland fan.  Could've gone BPA at so many critical spots rather than a cheerleading "fun" local interview.

I'll never forget an Athletic Pod with Brugler breaking down Legette.  He mentioned how he had spoke with a lot of teams and most of the league had him highest, a 3rd rounder.  There was one or two teams that had him much higher than others.

Voila.

    • Honestly, 2020 and 2021 were the years we sat on our asses like idiots. First being 2020.  Love may have been the one we missed out on with a trade down or a trade up from our 2nd pick.  And Hurts was a totally viable 2nd rounder to take a flier on after going DB. Love in particular was one of those top guys pre-college season, but he had a lot of TOs his last year and some iffy decision making pegged him back by scouts. If we hired a staff with a decent plan and vision (instead of Rhule and whatever he wanted to do) willing to groom him behind a vet, that may have been the money bet.  2021, it was Fields.  We could've tried him on for size, even if it didn't work, it would have put us in position to draft a QB in 2024. It all sucks.  We chased.
