Dan Orlovsky on Bryce Young

I firmly believe that ship is sailed.  When he came out for his presser, I literally just watched it thinking how the guys in that locker room feel listening to this same poo every week.  Sure, there are other shitty players on this roster, and definitely some coaches, but when the one guy on the field whose play can make or break your day is consistently atrocious, where they’re doing poo like Dan shows in this breakdown…. Bro, we’re in year 3 and you don’t recognize they’re in zone and a defender is waiting to break on the pass you just stared down for 2 seconds?  And okay, that happens to every QB from time to time, but again, we’re in year 3, and you did it not once, but multiple times in one game.  Somebody else shared in a thread yesterday, I think it was, that the Jags didn’t even run anything exotic.  They didn’t blitz.  They didn’t try to confuse him.  They literally ran zone the majority of the game and rushed 4.  And the poo he did in this breakdown, especially that throw to Renfrow, looked, from memory, exactly like the picks he threw to Jessie Bates repeatedly.  So imagine that guy coming in the locker room and trying to say anything to you.  Even if it’s an apology.  I don’t want to hear it.  You are costing us a chance to win, and if you know you’re not capable of doing better, fall on your sword and take your ass to the bench.  That’s what a good teammate would do.  A shitty one keeps going out there selfishly doing the same dumb poo he’s been doing.  And Dan didn’t even show the scramble to stumble to fumble, which also seems like Bryce has done more times than I’ve ever seen one player do in my life already.  It’s just comedic at this point that anyone is still pretending he is anything but what he’s shown to be.  I really just wish he would bow out and give the players who are actually doing their job a fuging chance.

If this keeps up, the org is going to have a big problem in that locker room.

I could see one or two key guys asking for a trade.

Yeah late and under thrown. For DC to publicly say the reason he cut Renfrow from the initial 53 because of conditioning when he doesn't have his QB's footwork fixed also pisses me off now. The only reason he got the HC job was to fix Bryce yet he's reverted back to the same issues he had his rookie year

High standards for everyone but the #1 pick you traded up to draft. Is it any wonder this team continues to flounder?

Canales mentioned something about Bryce smiling more and how reassuring that is. As much as I think DC is a fraud, I think there's something to that. Bryce's footwork falls apart when things are going rough; he's the most Psychiatrists Kid QB ever. I think DC has realized that once bryce starts pouting his mechanics go out the window.

Steve Wilkes would not be having that poo. Shoulda kept him at HC and gotten some really good young coordinators.

God, Tepper is so fuging stupid.

just thinking back to that time…  how simple it could’ve been.  We found a formula that worked - and now, Wilks is where?  Foreman is where?  Imagine taking that foundation and building off that with guys like Lewis and Hunt, Tet, etc.  what a monumental fug up.

Ironically enough what I think will ultimately do Bryce in/will be why he won’t make it in the league won’t be his size concerns, but his mental makeup.

He is a historical outlier in size and due to that has smaller and stricter windows, but he *has* shown he can play, but only when it doesn’t matter. The best football we’ve seen from Bryce was that preseason Buffalo drive and then down the stretch last year after we were already eliminated

Remember the look on JJs face last night after that TD pass to Jones towards the end of the game? Dude looked like a straight killer. That’s the face of a dude that’s locked the fug in, completely ignoring any and all noise. Reminded me of prime Cams infamous nod prior to orchestrating a game winning drive right after seeing the Saints take the lead.

Probably hyperbolic but that shot convinced me JJ will be a dude for the Vikings. Yes they have a great staff but that kind of mentality isn’t something that’s taught.

to succeed as a young QB in this league you need some level of that coldness/killer mentality in you to push through the adversity that will inevitably come when you have a bad game, throw a pick 6, or your line gets blown up.

i don’t see any of that in Bryce. I want to be wrong, and hope someone can quote this post with a “wow that aged like milk!” someday, but I don’t think it’s happening.

if Bryce had that mentality in him, I honestly think he could play and work through it, but I just don’t think he does

100% agree

he is many ways, immature…and for the high stress, high visibility of the NFl, I don’t see it.  That mental stress has broken others with far more physical talent than he has

So many people were and still are trashing and blaming XL for that interception and it blows my mind. It was second and fuging 2 and he thought it was a good idea to make that throw when he could have literally walked and picked up the first down.

His situational awareness is non existent.

He's getting close. He's acknowledging that Bryce's footwork is complete trash, that he's not seeing coverage, that lots of balls are coming out late and not on time, and that he's still throwing up hospital balls. But since he's an admitted fan and believer in Bryce it still can't be Bryce's fault yet.

You would think, having the entire offseason to work on his footwork, it would have improved. I haven't given up on Bryce but damn, its not looking good at all.

I mean at this point he already told us all what time it is. Following his disastrous rookie season which was one of the 3 or 4 worst all time in terms of yards per pass he bluntly stated his first goal was to do as little as possible or shop for clothes or stream Netflix. The complete opposite of a dawg.

It’s largely because XL is in the doghouse.   It’s like the 3 Renfrow balls.   Blaming him is just comically bad takes.  Renfrow set Bryce up for 2 big plays….he couldn’t make the throws though and thanked him with a hospital ball.

Renfrow won’t last the year. Renfrow while tiny and high IQ… is a baller.  He will put his tiny frame out there.  Bryce will end his comeback
