Canales needs to concentrate on coaching

Obvious that he is over his head with calling plays and being a HC.

Needs to turn over the play calling to someone else. I have little faith that we have that guy right now who is qualified. Canales will have to temper his ego and just coach the team.

Don't know who to hand the play  calling duties to.. The  plays are getting in to late and causing problems. Also some odd playcalling in certain situations. Some say he is not tough enough to motivate. I have no idea what he is like in the locker room besides what I have seen on Youtube.

Time to change course and try something else before he finds himself without a job.

I'm generally not a big fan of head coach play callers. I'm really not a fan of it for inexperienced head coaches. Guys like Andy Reid and Sean Payton have decades of HCing experience.

Exactly. He is in over his head right now. Let alone having a Bryce Young to scheme for is a fulltime job in itself.

Calling plays for a QB that can barely throw the ball over the middle and needs passes to be schemed to the boundary so he can see them and process them or rolled out of the pocket and given half a field to process...

Are you freaking kidding me right now? Seriously I'm asking.

Yeah, I'm kinda the same  thinking... we have had multiple  coordinators  deal with Bryce and all are handicapped by his limited skills etc.  When Andy played that 1 Seattle game,  it showed a glimpse of a true attacking offense. Unfortunately  Andy is a backup. It's time to find OUR QB.

Canalas may be an amazing coach no one can tell with him forced to play the byoung qb card.  He has to only call plays bryce can maybe throw so its probanly like 10%of his plays

What's the difference between him calling the plays or listening to the plays being called, which are (or should be) dictated by him before the game starts anyways.

You guys are confusing talent with management.  We suck at both unfortunately.

Remember, Dave Canales said other people need his preseason playcalling work lol.  Yeah, he is a good looking Matt Rhule at this point

Seemed like the running plays he dialed up last season worked well. Hubbard balled out. Our offensive issues strictly stem from the passing game.

Sorry but it is really hard to evaluate Canales and his play calling when the QB running the offense makes terrible decisions and has a career passing average of 175 yards per game.

This shouldn't require explanation. Active vs. passive.

Disagree.  Explain to me how Canales calling (or not calling) plays changes that this team is void of talent and management.

Whether Canales is voicing the calls into huddles, or standing by as a listener, has literally zero impact on this team being good.

If you think Canales passing a headset to another person makes us a Superbowl contender, good luck with that model.

I didn't say SB contender. Far from it. The D is quietly every bit as bad as the offense. The head coach is responsible for more than just the offense.

Agreed, we are saying the same thing.  I just don't think Canales not calling plays would make any difference on how bad he, this team, or our fans are.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
