Bryce Young is a problem — what would you do if you were Dan Morgan?

1. No

2. No

3. I think this is the best possibility with the best possibly outcome.

I assume in this scenario we are drafting high enough to get a QB because the vet options this off-season are bad.

A bad vet would still help the other players and would be a hell of an improvement in quality. Not ideal but an improvement for everyone

You have to find a way to minimize his cap hit when you know he is not the long term option. Even if his level of play picks up, there will be a day when a very large grown ass man hurts him very badly. How well would he be able to come back from a major injury?

Roll with him this season (for now) and trade him in the offseason. I’d rather take a 7th rounder than the potential cap hit from releasing him.

Servicable vets are let go every season. Pick one up and draft someone who at least has measurables for the position. Don’t expect anything success wise until the 2027 season.

Unfortunately, and given the backup situation, there is no choice but to play him either to the trade deadline or all year

i do not think Dalton could last a season

there aren’t QBs, serviceable QBs,  sitting around waiting for a call that know the offense

the time to do something was at season’s end if they felt he was fool’s gold

that said

1. I’d start him and try to salvage something he can do to get to the trade deadline

2.ie  Get him to perform as best possible and trade him at the deadline. San Fran may need a backup   It is better for him and better for the franchise

3. Accept that Dalton starts for at least 4 games

4 look at practice squads, free agency everywhere and bring in a younger player and bring him up to speed while Dalton plays   Run the ball  short passes

5. Roll around in the poo they created until season’s end

6. Draft a qb in 2026

sad thing, even if he performs better, his floor is his ceiling

What to do:

Start scouting the QBs hard in the draft - if you don't like any of them, don't reach for a QB, trade down to let another team reach for a QB and rebuild the defense. If there is a QB you like, take him (we should have a top 5, maybe top 3 pick at the end of the year).

If we don't draft a QB, let Bryce tank again the following year for another top 5 pick and repeat above before letting Bryce walk (if we can get a 5th rounder or better, trade him I guess).

We are so many pieces away from a Superbowl team right now - what I don't want to see is us desperate for a QB and draft another awful QB high in the draft.

I am hoping we are bad enough to get a rookie.

We already have a bad vet on the team. They will let Young crash and burn one more game before he's benched again and will ride Andy for as long as they can until the season is over. If Andy goes down then I'm not sure what they do.

I'm surprised so many of you believe that Bryce has trade value.

I don't think that many teams in the NFL are looking at him and saying he'd fill a major void in our roster. He's not going to start on another team in the league. I don't even think too that many teams would want him for a backup.

If the Panthers are wise they'll refuse to pick up his 5th year option at the end of the season. So, 2026 should be his last season with the team. Why would a team pick up the salary of a subpar QB in 2026, when they can get him at a much more reasonable deal in 2027 (probably as a backup and not a starter of course)?

We have a bad vet that doesn't have good availability. If they sit him then we will see him again just like last year. Rinse and repeat

So, we're in the crapper for another 2-3 years minimum

And that's only if things start improving in the choices this franchise makes

Yeesh

We are in the craper and will be until this team has more talent and better coaching. They have a long way to go.

    • Yeah. That start to his career was about as bad as it can get. In New York, Meat grinder press corps, of the first degree,    When he came here he was on OC 3 - in year 3.  And people in this fan base that think they are smart, could not take that stuff into account.  Now, most of the smart ones are not Bryce Stans but Bryce gets 4 damned years free pass. At least 3  The fail of the organization AND fan base in general, fuging shamefully short sighted,  And the choking thing, players have to fail before they succeed. With very few exceptions. Last year was really his first meaningful, high stakes game. Okay, he didn’t play well. They learn from that, or are supposed to. You don’t throw out a guy with all those tools and with his rocky did him no favors background for not being perfect right away.  He might suck in the SB, but he proved a ton this year.    If we’d have had any patience he was the guy to use it on, not Bryce Young.
    • Darnolds OC when he was drafted was Jeremy Bates who was fired. He hasn’t had an nfl job since then. his next head coach was Adam gates who was fired after two years and isn’t in the league anymore. then he gets traded to the Matt Rhule panthers. His first OC was a hired WAY too early Joe Brady who was fired midseason and basically had to restart his career as a get back coach in Buffalo. then it was Jeff Nixon, who’s currently the head coach for Syracuse. the next season was the best he’d ever looked, and it was the first time he had an actual nfl offensive coordinator calling plays for him. The less said about Matt Rhule the better. then he sits a year and ends up in Minnesota and the rest is history. maybe he just had poo awful coaches for the start of his career. Maybe we should be trying to find someone who flamed out on the jets. one who’s a religious weirdo  and likes to bang married women  that’s right baby, Zach Wilson redemption tour starts now
    • Your last paragraph, painful. We suffered it all with Rhule and Fitterer and were rewarded with Bryce.  I’ll stop there, I have made hundreds of posts that say what I would say if I continued. 😂
