He got beat and held the DT. It happens. Overall I thought he played pretty well.

The OL looked OK when the Cardinals were in prevent. Last drive, they man handled our OL. Zavala is not an NFL starter.

Really?? I think Zavala is a solid backup to have, but I thought he looked pretty bad yesterday. He had no clue who to block whenever the Cardinals ran a stunt

There’s a weird thing that goes on in here over some of our backups. BC, Mays and Zavala are OK backups but they are starter level players. BC got nothing in FA and cam back to us.

Our team talent level is at the bottom of the league. We certainly don’t have 8 NFL starter level OL on our team. Having to play Mays and Zavala/BC is not a good thing for us.

I think just about every team would be in the same predicament if they lost 2 starting offensive linemen. It's even worse for us because our QB is so bad he can't compensate for a beat up oline.

That being said, I think our depth at oline is solid. I don't think there is much a drop off from Corbett to Mays (if any) and BC has good position versatility and is IMO solid at each oline position (that I have seen him play). Zavala I thought played well last year and hopefully he was just bad yesterday because he had to come in mid-game. But yeah, none of those backups are close to the quality of Hunt

The oline wasn't that bad the final drive (except Zavala on 2 plays). Bryce has terrible pocket presence and just steps/scrambles into the pass rush far too many times. And Zavala's bad blocking wouldn't have even been a problem on the 2 plays if Bryce checked it down to Chuba.

It's so weird that Bryce didn't try to check it down at all the last drive when that was pretty much all he did the previous 3 touchdown drives...

    • I think we are looking at the same stats, I think you just have pro-Bryce goggles on.  That seems to be pretty clear by the post history, anyway.  Not really sure how or why anyone would still be in that camp, but carry on.
    • I would argue their play during their respective seasons was elite, and they elevated those around them.  Regardless of what they became after that moment.
    • Right team, wrong year and player. Since the 2003 season, there are only 2 SB winning QB's who won't end up in the HOF (Hurts not included as I think that's still up in the air), would be Flacco and Foles. The next worst QB to win in that time frame would be Eli, followed by Wilson, and then Big Ben. The other SB winning QB's since then... Brady, Mahomes, Stafford, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees... basically some of the best to ever play the game and Stafford, a surefire HOFer after winning his SB. You have to go back to the 2002 season to find a truly average QB to have won the SB with Brad Johnson and then 2 years before that with Dilfer.  Before that, you have to go all the way back to the 1991 season when the Redskins won, everyone else between there are HOFers.
