The problem when you draft a guy like Bryce the way you draft him with the trade up and assets spent is you cant afford for him to sit 2-3 years and develop. He has to be that guy now. We gave up too much for him to be what he is right now, and while that may not be fair, it is what it is. If we had stayed at 9 and drafted him there and he is this level of QB, we're out a 1st and while it stings, it's not crippling. But that's not what we did and it was crippling, not to mention, he wasn't even the QB our HC wanted. He didn't even fit Reich's system which hurt him even further.

But now its year 3 and QB contracts are obscene. We're at the point we have to decide if he's worth what he's going to be asking. Based on performance, are you paying a 5 year, 200 million contract with 140 guaranteed? I sure as hell hope not. Bryce needs to be able to elevate the guys around him and he's not doing that. His physical limitations are clear, his field vision is spotty, his decision making is questionable and his ability to hold under pressure. Well, we saw that Sunday.

Maybe he's good somewhere else, but where we find ourselves right now, staring down the barrel of year 3 with a 5th year option or contract extension on the horizon, we don't have the luxury to wait another season and hope. If he doesn't get it together in a big damn hurry he needs to be out the door.

For like the 100th time on here, there are only 3 options after this season for Bryce.

1. Trade him

2. Extend him

3. Pick up the 5th

what would you recommend the team doing?  Honest question.

4. Flat out cut him

Of course not but neither could Brees and I doubt Murray with the Cardinals could do a sneak either. No doubt, he does play with some limitations. That doesn't make him bad

Development. You really think he looks different than two calendar years ago? I just don’t.
Icing on the cake is he was supposed to be developed and ready to start, and win, while making average WRs better. Point guard. Elite processor. Ring a bell?

Everyone has had to forget about that and just hope he can look average.

95% of his time on the field has been a fail, maybe 90%. He has caught lightning in a bottle one game, and maybe a half in a couple of others. Or a drive. That’s about the size of it.

He outperformed Mayfield, Darnold and Jones statistically when compariing their second year of play. Did you watch any of the games after he came off the bench last season?

Brees and Murry can throw Hail Marys, Young cant. Brees could sneak too not Young.

Brees was a modern day great at the sneak.  And too often in the Bryce world, Brees is only thought of as old weak armed Brees.  Brees used to fling it downfield.  He was known for the big downfield gambles in his prime.

The team is going to do whatever they do. Being angry at the player for the teams stupidity is misplaced outrage. Of course it will be a bad investment to extend him. But what can I do to make it not happen? I can promise you that whatever happens with Young an extension here is the last thing I'm worried about at the moment. The only reason he is starting right now is they have no other choice. Thats on the GM and coaches to deal with.

So what is your solution?

Afraid I don't have a solution other than being patient. I am sure that won't go over well with most people here but it's early in the season. Hopefully he can build on his second half from last week.
