Right now we have a top 10 pick LT who is showing improvement as a pass protector, two top tier guards, an aging but still top shelf RT, a top 10 pick at WR, a proven veteran RB. I mean, the cupboard is far from bare. Drop rookie Cam on this roster and it's probably similar results. 6ish wins and overall competitive but the D usually finds a way to give up more points than we can score.

Rookie Cam would have faired well with this opening schedule of 2025.  Probably 3-4 wins through the first 7 games.

Cam auto increases the odds for more explosive pass plays (we are the worst in the NFL).  The arm and play extension is in a different universe.  And Cam paired w/ a solid RB is just a problem for a defense.   So Cam auto improves a bad D because Cam is going to have them playing fewer downs vs Bryce.

I don't honestly know if the record would be any different but I do know that we'd be competing. We wouldn't be going out there and just getting dog walked.

rookie Cam was just such an anomaly....it would have been a problem for all these bad teams we got early.  Cam actually had a tougher opening schedule in hindsight and was still a problem for those folks.   Only 3 of the opening 8 finished w/ losing records

Yeah, people talk about the crazy offseason of his rookie year and what he could've done with a normal offseason but I honestly think it kinda helped him and us. Cam was just so different than any other QB in the league at that time that we were kinda able to just take the league by storm offensively early on because in part because of the crazy offseason not allowing our early opponents to prepare for specifically for Cam and we did a good job in the preseason of not showing anything we planned to actually unleash once the games started for real.

He's basically a Dillon Gabriel/Stetson Bennett level prospect at the NFL level. But every now and then one of those guys turns out to be Brock Purdy.

If we are looking in the later rounds, Haynes King is the guy. Big arm, great mobility, and let's be honest he has the clutch gene. I think he is totally underrated.

We’re not picking first again. Young will get benched, Red Pistol will win a couple meaningless games and we’ll be stuck in 7-10 range. I’m just about done with this franchise.

I actually hope this happens. It means we don’t have as many holes as you think.  Just address the QB position in free agency and the Draft.

I love that guy as a college QB. I honestly don't think he's an NFL QB but with a late round pick? I mean, we've definitely made dumber picks.

    • The thing is, there's not a part of the organization that isn't.  Would you rather buy a trailer park full of mobile homes that are about to disintegrate, or just build a few new houses?  Sure, you won't make money while you're building the new houses, but the long term payoff is going to be much, much better.  Same exact situation.  Canales was forced to keep a bunch of mobile homes instead of being allowed to build new ones .  Now he might suck at building, but we can never know unless he is given the opportunity.  I'm not saying he's done a good job or a bad job.  He hasn't been allowed to do a job period.
    • Keep all options open is all I'm saying. Seems like "next year's class" is always the one. I mean, the narrative going into this year was that this was going to be a great QB draft and now it's just not looking like that's panning out on the college field but we'll see. In a few years looking back maybe it is.
    • How do you or I know who he can or can't call up?  That question doesn't even make sense.  Of course he has relationships.  What matters is building YOUR team.  I don't know if you've ever been a part of a team, sports or otherwise, but I promise you goals are not achievable when you assemble a team of people that don't know how to make each other better.   Bryce Young cannot be made better.  He doesn't have the basic tools.  Of course he was brought in to try to make Young better.  Any coach we hire would be brought in for the same purpose.  Again, irrelevant to the point, which is that coach has not been permitted to build his own operation.  If you or I were hired to some sh*tshow and forced to keep the people that made it a sh*tshow, I would expect it to run exactly the same under me, regardless of the scenario.
