The team needs a culture change.

We need a HC that will come in and smash skulls. A guy that knows how to win and has the creds to demand respect.

After that, we need a QB that is the same type of leader. A guy who can put the game on his back and demand the respect and effort of the players around him.

None of that is easy, but we can’t draft our way out of a terrible culture.

Just my opinion but we need to get great players not quantity.  Sounds simple but we need to take BPA every round for a while.  Talent sucks here.

Oh and everything is just soft, too nice.  We need a leader who can motivate these guys and crack some skulls so to speak.  Not sing carols and be everybody’s friend

  • Keep Dan Morgan? I've liked him, been an upgrade on Fitterer even though he's made mistakes

I’d love to hear a detailed argument as to why Dan Morgan should keep his job

Especially if we’re planning to restart again

Wonder if Flores will get HC consideration or if he's blackballed after his lawsuit...

I'd be down to even trade for him as Def. Coord, and there's your HC in waiting if/when we fire Canales next year since I don't think it's this year.

Bring in a vet stop gap QB (again), draft a guy in the 2nd/3rd.

Draft true BPA and pray we learn how to draft

Pray the QB works out, if not, you've helped assemble the team around him for 2027.

First thing's first, Tepper has to GTFO of football operations. Like all the way out. Go run the business. Leave football up to the football people. If the football people aren't working out then replace them and lean on football people to help you find those replacements.

Until this happens then we are who we are.

Tepper has had a few retired NFL minds help him on the side in a silent-consultant type basis.  That has likely given him the assurance he could figure it out but it hasn’t worked.

…so now, as some have been mentioning, it’s time to find a true President of Football Operations who is his liaison and he just goes full hands-off. Doesn’t even need to pretend he’s Mr. Charlotte either. Just sit back, throw the cash, get out of the light (which I’d say he’s done to a certain effect)

Many have been screaming for this since the first reset before we hired Rhule.

If you can find that guy, that’s the starting point. Have them map out the blueprint for finding a GM who dictates the vision, and then those two find their HC.

BUT

If we don’t hit that full reset, and get a PFO, we need to get lucky and find a generational player or coach that changes everything.

There’s nothing any player on our roster can do to transform the team. McMillan, Horn, DB and Chuba are a start, but may be on their way out by the time we correct it.

I can give Canales a bit of grace these next 5-6 weeks but then pressure is on if it’s looking bad. Bryce, I’m mostly done with him.

A few main Personnel objectives should be:

-Accrue high draft capital (figure out how to gain picks to create multiple 1sts and 2nds)

-ID a blue chip DE and LB.

-Roadmap a QB scenario with both a vet and rookie. I’d take anything at this point, Stidham and Mateer IDFK

So the solution is to do what? Buy our way out? If it was that easy every team would be a juggernaut.

The culture is established by management and the players. If management is bad they draft bad players and that's your culture. Its is deeply rooted in this organization and has been for a very long time.

No, not buy our way out. Hire a HC that can whip these players into shape and give them something to play for. Have you forgotten how the team played under Wilkes?

Dude. Stop bringing up Wilks like he is the answer. If he were he would be a head coach somewhere right now. Also this team is not that team. Completely different players with different personalities.

I agree they need someone who will hold them more accountable. But Tepper will have to settle for whoever will take the job. So here we are.

Yeah Im kind of in the boat of a full house cleaning. I feel like we have been trapped in this off cycle replacement of GMs/HCs ever since we kept Hurney around after firing Ron.

I worry though who would come here, especially from the HC angle if Canales only gets two years, and not with his own QB. I think Im in the camp of fire both this year, or give one more year with their choice of QB and see if its any different.

I do wonder if Canales regrets declaring BY "our guy" last year when he was on his "good" run. He may have tied himself to the hip with that one.

I said this prior to the draft... Nothing around here will change until we completely overhaul the scouting department, pro and college.

I believe Linville or one of the other mods said to wait until after the draft, yet here we are.

Bad draft after bad draft FOR YEARS is completely unacceptable. Free agent signings have also been subpar at best. Add bad trades to that mix and you have a perennial cellar dweller. First step should be to hire a GM with a PROVEN record of scouting and talent eval. Keep Tillis for financials and build the right way.

Id start with the scouting and talent evaluators.  If they work here now, they shouldn’t.  Fire them all.  Every one.

Then I’d clean out the FO, President, VP, GM everyone.

Then all the coaches.

Then I’d hire an outside firm to come in and hire football people.

Only then can you start to address the pathetic product being slopped on the field.  And that will take time and the usual amount of luck.
