Well I don’t know about being the 12th best in the league it says we have given up the 12th fewest yards. 
But they have been better than last.

Yeah the defensive additions have really helped. Still a long way to go but under the right conditions they can look competent.

The run defense has been clearly better this year outside of week 1. Still some work to be done, but clearly getting Derrick Brown back has had a huge impact.

We have enough pieces to field a decent defense if only we had a coordinator that didn’t  default to cover-3 zone 50% of the time.  And doesn’t have to be asked sweetly with sugar on top by his best defender to get more pass rush opportunities.

To be fair it was acknowledged that they were bringing DB back slowly and what I read  said the plan had been the 1st 4 games. 
Can’t remember where I saw that it may have been Persons, I read the Athletic. 
But I saw it a couple of days after I speculated that was what was going on.

10th in pass defense 14th in run defense.

Certainly much better than last year. But we've got some tougher offenses coming up.

Short fields limit yards. 
But 19 rushing in 4 qtrs is just not done. 
Ans there are likely teams up there that had a bye so maybe in reality we are a notch or two higher. 
All it means is we have improved. Which eyeballs can tell you.
 Like was said we have some tough tests ahead.

Let's give it a decent sample size before making any proclamations. I've seen some encouraging progress on D but still a lot of problems with it as well.
