Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?

  1. 1. It's been so spirited for so long, let's draw some lines in the sand. Where do you fall on the Bryce spectrum?

    • Full-on fan - He is our Franchise QB, present & future
    • The door is still open for him being the answer
    • The door is closed barring a major run
    • Nope, he's not the answer - Doesn't matter what he does

Went with the "he's not the answer" option, but in reality, I fall somewhere between that one and the door is closed barring a major run.

For me to be okay with him coming back, or god forbid even worse, give him an extension, it's not that he has to go on a "major run" the rest of this year, that's not emphatic enough of wording.

He needs to literally be in the MVP discussion at the end of the season, like Top 5 MVP candidate when the season is over to even warrant giving him a 4th year.  Of course I don't think this is remotely possible, which is why I went with the "he's not the answer" option.

I still think there is a possibility of him being a low end NFL starter as a decent game manager, but to me, that's not the type of guy you re-sign to an extension, that's the guy who becomes the new Teddy Two Gloves or Dalton before we signed him.  The guy who teams sign to be their bridge starter for a season or part of a season if they have their rookie waiting in the wings to take over when ready.

I mean, there is what I think.

Then there is what I think the Panthers think.

and I think the Panthers have consistently shown that their thinking and decision-making in the Tepper era at the QB spot is what they are worst at.  We are keeping Cam.  No, Cam is gone.  Teddy is here.  We have a plan.  Forget that plan, Teddy insulted us.  We have Sam.  I mean, we have Baker.  I mean, we sold the farm for the #1 overall pick and we will figure out who we want.   Bryce is the guy.  2 games into year 2, the Bryce ride is over.  Wait a minute, we had to bring him back and now we are going to give him a year 3.

I am not convinced his personal is past high teens.
That is peak. He has to be somewhere in the 20s right now and that fluctuates week to week.
The Miami game, the local ESPN duo Chris Rae and partner did a postgame and said his teammates saved his job. That the whole stadium and I think including the press box (them for sure) had him benched and done.
And his teammates saved him

Unlike these claims that people say he can’t throw 5 yards and 25 yards, this happened. I’ll find the clip.

yep.  Rico Dowdle extended Bryce Young's audition.  If not for Rico......and the next game being Dallas? You got to think Tepper/Canales shelf him again like last year if Rico didn't flip that game on it's head.  That's how that was reading.

Option 2 for me

He’s only 24 years old and this organization set him up to fail horribly from day 1

Seems like there may be a light at the end of tunnel all of a sudden but until I see this organization turn it around and see Bryce with a proper team around him I don’t want to see them ship him off

Shelf him for who? The ghost of fuging Andy Dalton?

Bryce was meant to start this full season. Sink or swim.

Need an option between the door is still open and the door is closed.

Yeah, like they tried to close the door but it didn’t latch because Bryce Young’s huge balls were stuck in it. Now the fire department has shown up with the jaws of life to see if they can open the door and save the balls.

I can’t find the interview because I must not know their names.
I’ll keep looking

You would have had to sit him for the team. Locker room Didn’t that make 3 of 5 games he had imploded and put the team in a huge hole, pretty much single handedly?

Teammates saved his job is really crazy  considering the "He has no help narrative" fans have been pushing since his rookie year. You would think a guy that's had no help all this time wouldn't be a threat to get benched when the team steps up.

For how many games? How many games do we think Andy could start right now realistically.... Two maybe three at the most.

Just don't see a scenario where they could bench him and not have to go back to him at some point.

They made the mess they should explain to the locker room why Bryce is the only QB on the roster but the rest of them have to compete.

I am all out of knowing what to think. Especially about what his  posse says about him being the guy.

I didn’t even say it. So I can’t reason it out like you want.

The radio guys said it and the said the whole stadium was there, time for him to go.
I wish I could find it so I don’t misrepresent their words but feel pretty safe just saying the stadium. Until the improbably turnaround. It was a pretty strong take and I know they had refrained from going there with him in the past.

    • I can't help but think that you are equating physical attributes alone with wins. I don't subscribe to that thought. No one will argue that Young has a strong arm, but he makes up for it in other ways. The real limitation for him is he needs good route runners with great hands. That's why Young was so good at the end of the 24 season. Thielen and Coker were perfect receivers for him and he had his best games with them. Not having them to start the 25 season hurt. Look at the first 10 games in 25 with a rookie receiver and no Coker and then look at the final 7 games with a more experienced rookie and Coker back and there is a telling difference in Young's performance. Prior to week 10, Young had 1 game with a QB rating above 100, 2 games with a rating above 90 and 6 games with a rating below 90. In the last 7 games with Coker back, Young had 3 games with a QB rating above 100, 2 games with a rating above 90 and only 2 games with a rating below 90. The tools a QB has to work with matter more than their arm strength.  To go back to Darnold and Stafford, yes they both have great arm strength but neither had much success with that alone. As I already pointed out, Stafford, even with a canon for an arm, only had 4 winning seasons in his first 12 years. It was only when he went to the right environment that he had true success.
    • I don't love this role for him if I'm being totally honest The pregame show is much more flash than substance and doesn't seem like the right fit for what Luke would bring to the table, and that's his vision of the game. I'd like to see him do something where it more involves him breaking down film and explaining what he's seeing out there, as he sees the game in a way very few ever have.
