Bryce's Achilles Heel Is Not What You Think It Is

The sad fact is he will not succeed at the NFL level with his horrible college footwork and compensation moves like the tippy toe drop backs. He just won’t.

If he can’t put that on the table for us, we would be foolish to not seek an alternative plan.

I think part of the difficulty might be that QBs have a lot of trouble once they come off the Alabama assembly line. That's a tight program focused on competing in the SEC and that school always has a succession line of QBs rolling. They can shred at the college level and then really have difficulty finding their footing in the pros.

They can and do, however, eventually find it if they can last long enough. Will our guy? We're just going to have to wait and see. I think he's got this season to prove himself before the team gets antsy and the coach decides to move along to his own handpicked QB.

I know he was ranked high as a college prospect. But he stopped growing. I know they won with him but as a non Alabama fan wonder who the hell he beat out for that job and how bad were they? Rhetorical ….
For my money the Alabama QBs after Namath were just not NFL.  I might be forgetting someone.

I  Bryce can make every throw an NFL QB needs to make in any circumstance.

Why does he have to be benched for a hail mary pass? He got a chance to redeem himself a couple of weeks ago and the ball went 7 yards. Every QB in the NFL can make that throw....except one.

I wont get into QB sneaks.

Week three of the 2023 season, the big question was answered. In a loss. Everything since then has been face saving bullshit.

Almost everything

Lmao Burrow and Hurts don’t have a stronger arm, do you even watch other games? There are throws in the panthers offense with Bryce the eagles have never ran with Hurts. And they actually have fast WR

It was during the draft process, I’m not gonna look for an almost 4 year old video.

I also wouldn't say Bryce has a stronger arm than them.  Arm strength probably on par.....but Burrow just a vastly superior passer than both of them.   Jalen obviously one of the premier QBs on the ground.

Then we have our guy.....who doesn't actually have a trait that makes him stand out.

This thing has been dragged around the mulberry bush so many times I had forgotten that was a major objection of mine to taking him.

Physical traits… where are the things that are above average by NFL standards?  There wasn’t a single one. To go with the below average stuff.

It was all processor point guard facilitator gobbledygook.

When did he get benched for a Hail Mary pass? WTF are you talking about??!!

Cam did for Heinicke after his shoulder injury.

Do people on this board even watch the games?

lol, how do you lecture folks about not watching games and then not know about Bryce being taken out for a hail mary?

and yeah, Cam got subbed out because the coach knew he didn't have the arm for it.  That's what coaches do when you don't have the arm for it.

I'll be honest, Dave went to such great coaching efforts to get us in position for the hail mary attempt I was actually sort of excited to see what Bryce had in him.   I felt for sure Dave was going to flat out get that debate settled.  I mean, how could he not.  And then.......all that for a Tommy Tremble screen lol.

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
