Greg Cosell: Bryce Young is a complimentary piece

So are 90% of QBs in NFL history

But we're not talking about 90% of QBs in NFL history. We're talking about a guy who we traded a fortune for to draft #1 overall. It's about whether or not we pick up his 5th year option. Any thoughts of a long-term contract should be completely off the table. You can honestly get Bryce Young level play from a journeyman vet backup and it'll cost a lot less than his 5th year option.

Can't wait to see the Bryce stans blaming our RBs when they aren't going for 200+ yards to carry Bryce and he regresses.

The draft capital we spent on him is irrelevant now. The million dollar question is his next contract im not sold on him yet but if he does sign hopefully its a take it or leave it deal where we can continue to add pieces to the side. And aren't lumped with an albatross of a QB contract

Let's be real. If this were true we would have already pulled the plug. Everything to this point has been about trying to justify the capital we gave up to draft him.

It's irrelevant in terms of the decision to come but it's tiring listening to fans talk about the guy as if he was some mid-round pick drafted to be a backup. No, this guy was drafted to be the face of the franchise and an elite franchise QB. I honestly don't think there's any fans left delusional enough to think that will still pan out. The new cope is that he can prove to be consistently mid and that we can build a great team around him. The problem is that is purgatory. A consistently mid QB is still going to sign a contract that's one of the top 20 highest deals in the league and leave you hamstrung to put the type of roster around him that he needs to succeed.

This is a very fair point. Virtually no one who has been as bad as Bryce has been gets this many starts and he's gotten them because of the massive investment we made.

And I said the investment made is irrelevant but honestly it isn't. It should be but it won't be. Not in terms of the thought process. Not picking up that option would be admission that we made a huge mistake and that's a tough pill to swallow. If we hadn't made that investment there would be ZERO thoughts put toward giving Bryce another $30M guaranteed. We're stuck in the rut of sunk cost fallacy. A finance guy like Tepper should be able to clearly see it but human emotions and ego are what they are.
