I never understood how they made the trade without having a target as they stated. You know you're drafting a QB but you don't know who. If you don't know one of those is worth the 1st pick yet, how do you move up to draft any of them? What if none of them are worth the pick after the pre draft process? Then you've put yourself in a position that you can't really get away from. Just because you need a QB doesn't mean you should take one of the options available.

They knew it was Bryce all along

Wtf are you even talking about? We only traded him because we hadn't been able to work out a contract because we had lost any leverage in negotiations after rejecting a trade offer for a player equivalent to prime Khalil Mack. He was not producing as a top tier game changing edge rusher like Mack. He was producing like Hasaan Reddick. He deserved to be paid like Reddick, not Mack.

He deserved to get paid and another team reaping the benefits. Just say you were wrong it’s not hard

There was no way he was worth what he got to us. Good luck to him. Hes finally lived up to his potential 8 years in.

They're defense is one of the worst  defenses in the league both run and pass.

I agree with this.
The money he would have gotten contributed to signing offensive talent.
However you might feel about that. And yes he would look good in a Mr inside Mr outside thing with Brown, but we needed to develop new people that might be ready when the team is better equipped to take advantage. If that ever happens.

The trade offer was for a prime Khalil Mack player. That's never been Burns.

Burns production was on par with Reddick. 3 year 45m was the contract Reddick signed. Burns could have gotten a little more, but 5 year 141 is ridiculous in comparison of production at that stage of their career.

Burns is playing well in year 8. Yay. Finally. Pass rusher that still can't play the run. Same thing everyone said then, including me.

Fitterer should have been fired immediately for not taking the trade. Burns didn't shut down the Broncos from scoring 33 in the 4th quarter. 33 GD points. That's not an elite take over the game when it matters player.

I'm still not wrong.

And you're still an idiot.

Emotional just like a little kid because someone doesn’t agree with you . But I’m the idiot . That’s the huddle for you . Burns production is leading the league in sacks right now . You pay players mostly for what they can become not what they did . It’s not hard saying your wrong grown ups do it daily .

The issue with Burns is that he sucks against the run. The Giants are 31st against the run and he doesn't help. He is a great pass rusher but is a 1 trick pony. I would rather have guys who are 3 down players and can play the run and pass.

Exactly. If we would had paid Burns, our run defense would still be laughable instead of being on a big upswing.

Everyone (I'm not just focusing on you sir) seems to think that trade set the team back for a decade. It really didn't. Scott F was a terrible GM. I do not think for one minute that we would have turned those trades into draft gold.

All you have to do is look at this draft record. Fitterer had the top pick in the 2023 draft and blew it. We've passed over players we could have used in each of his drafts to trade down and pick up gems like TMJ 🙄. Other times he'd trade up a pick gems like Matt Corrall and DJ Johnson 🙄. He probably would have used those picks to acquire more picks in lower rounds  and choose the players with the highest RAS scores.

I think the season before Burns left he literally had about 1/3 of our sacks. I said it would be a bad idea to not resign him if you didn't have a player (or players) on the roster to replace that production. To this day we still don't have a consistent pass rusher off the edge on either side. Our lack of of a pass rush is arguably our biggest weakness on defense.

That's a good point, but maybe a silver lining in this case of the Rams offer is that it was supposedly 1st rounders 2 and 3 years later. So hopefully we would've fired Fitterer before at least one of those
