I think Canales answered this question (temporarily) today.  I do wonder if Rico will be able to go next week though as he was pretty beat up today.

He’s a great running back. When I heard he was starting that worried me.

What does it matter if it’s from one player or a committee? I posted total running numbers, not individual.

the main thing you’re missing is the panthers spent big money on a free agent running back 2023 and he busted.

plus they’re simply not going to have the cap space to sign dowdle. You can post as many bland platitudes as you want it doesn’t change the fact.

unless you want to find out if dowdle runs as well with Ickey holding out for a new contract.

Lol as if you know what the Panthers will or don't do.

At the end of the day they either make winning decisions or they dont.

Your total numbers still fail in comparison for what it's worth.

How do you all like Hubbard?

He's been an ok back.

He was a rotational player up until 2024 season.

He rushed for an respectable 1100 yards as the feature back last season but he's never been a big time gamechanger just a grinder.

The best version of this Panther rushing attack is what you saw today when Chuba is called to spell Rico when he needs a breather none of that alternating series.

Good leader when no one else was willing to step up the last year or two. Not a natural catcher, a little stiff in his run style so more north and south when there is a hole he can get going and break LB/Safety tackles very easily. Seems to be way more dependent on the O-line than Rico for making something happen on any given play.

He didn’t get the ball much today. I think he’s a good back though.

He is, but I think he's either still coning back from his injury or playing with a loss of confidence since coming back. Rico is better either way but early in the year Chuba looked more decisive and stronger than he does now

I think we try to re-sign Dowdle at a rate that makes sense for the team. If the price gets too high then you move on. There’s no reason we can’t accommodate both running backs like we did with Williams and Stewart. After all, Young has yet to prove he can carry this team as a passer, and to be honest, he strikes me more as a 3,500 yard passer than a 4,500 yard passer. So to best support him we should have a strong running game and a 1 to 2 of Dowdle and Chuba could be the way to go.

The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth.

I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.

like what stats what are you talking about. 3 starts is called a limited sample size. that doesn't make someone top 5 at their position.

let me put this another way

next season the panthers are going to have to extend ikey, get an entire linebacking corps (only one under contract is tevin wallace), pay chuba his 7.5 million they can't get out of, and address the qb position.

rico is going to want more than Chuba got. where is that money going to come from?

and you just extended a RB to have him turn into a pumpkin. But this time it'll be different because...

Rico is the focal point of an offense that scored 13 points before the final play of the 4th quarter. who cares.

If they trade or cut Chuba this year his dead cap hit is only like 1.5m this year and 4.5m next. If they cut or trade him next post June 1st his dead cap hit is 1.5m next year and 3m for 2027.

You guys certainly got a good running game and a good O line too. We couldn’t get to you guys at all. We only had 1 sack.

I bet they run all over the Saints next week. 215 yards total I predict.
