Why do people think Bryce Young won this game yesterday?

Dowdle had more rushing yards than Young had passing yards and both tds.

Dowdle was the offense along with 1 clutch kick.

Dowdle also had some receptions, as did the receivers (naturally).

Did they throw those passes to themselves?

Because he did.

I'm as much a Bryce critic as anyone but the reality is he played well enough to help the team win yesterday.

Dowdle was a big part of it. The defense was a big part of it. But yes, Young was a big part of it too. It's mental gymnastics to say otherwise.

Chad Pennington helped win games. Rex Grossman helped win games. Hell, even David Carr helped win games. That's the way it works in a team sport.

Criticize Bryce all you want (I do) but don't cross the line into saying stupid things in the process.

Chad Pennington had multiple 3k yard seasons and took two teams to the post season in a time when passing offense was much more limited. Bryce Young is not Chad Pennington. Pennington was an average QB.

Bryce nearly cost us the game. In the same sense that JT Sanders helped us win the game, so did Bryce.

We have one of the worst starters in the league and one of the worst backups in the league. It is what it is. Bryce also damn near threw a back breaking INT on a bad throw on a comeback to T-Mac (all we were running on that drive were come backs because Bryce can't throw down the field). After that, Canales said fug it we're done throwing and I'm just gonna hope Rico can get us into position to attempt a long FG in windy conditions because that's a better option than Bryce throwing.

The big improvement I've seen from Canales' play calling as of late is that he's quick to limit the damage Bryce can do. After that ugly INT in the endzone that was it for throwing downfield yesterday. After the near pick on the throw to T-Mac that was it for passing period.

Yeah the team knows what Bryce is at this point and is just trying to limit the damage. God help us if we run into a team that can stop the run or Dowdle gets hurt.

There's a difference between having bad plays and having a bad game.

Even good quarterbacks have bad plays. Hell, Favre generally had at least three or four "what the @#$&" plays a game. And so did a certain quarterback who used to play here just a few years back.

Young did not have a bad game yesterday. And please don't give me the "we won in spite of him" bit because that is one of the stupidest arguments ever made.

Bryce DID have a bad game. What game were you watching? He consistently missed players and threw an INT. He was bailed out of several others.  He had some good plays but he was overall bad.

Winning a game doesn't mean he had a good game.

Bryce most definitely had a bad game. That end zone interception is unforgiveable.

See above.

I'll repeat what I've said before. Bryce is a limited quarterback. How much we can win with him consistently is a major question.

But acting like he never does anything right, doesn't have good games and hasn't contributed to wins is intellectual dishonesty.

You can indeed admit he does good things while still questioning whether or not he's the future.

Bryce Young had a bad game. It happens.

Contributions?  Sure he contributed. So did JT Sanders. I don't see you taking up the mantle of his protector.

I've legit said he had some good plays but had a bad game overall. You're being intellectually dishonest by insisting that a bad game was somehow a good one, when I know you've seen enough football to recognize bad football.

And yet some of the completions he made were amazing, including some made under heavy pressure.

Do I want Bryce as the "franchise" quarterback? Not convinced...

But I'm gonna make that decision based on an honest assessment, not a biased one.
