QB 2026 (For the Young Haters)

Awesome idea.  Let's make Cincinnati an offer.  I'm 100% sure they are ready to give up on Burrow. That is if you can keep him on the field.  He's been available how many games over that past 3 seasons?

Getting Burrow is about as realistic as finding the allusive Rainbow Unicorn.

Do you realize that Young was responsible for 19 of the 40 yards on that final drive? Rico had 21 yards. Both of those completions were for first downs.  That's what game winning drives require.  It doesn't require the QB to throw the ball each and every down.  You do know this?

It's clear that you won't give credit where credit is due.

While Bryce isn't your typical "Franchise QB" he's running the gameplan our coaching staff designs.  Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Bryce sucks because you say so.

Yeah, proposing such a trade or it happening isn’t what that convo was about.   He asked a question with a super easy answer.  What would you prefer as a franchise.   The question was answered.

I realize Bryce Young competed 11 passes for 100 yards at a 50 something clip.  Bryce doesn’t suck because I say so.  He tells you.  Our coaches tell you.  And the standard we judge the play of the 31 other teams tells you.

PJ Walker was 4-3 as a starter.  By Bryce Young logic he was Tom Brady.

Geno fits Canales and fits the O.  It’s why Geno worked in Seattle and not Oakland.  He is a deep ball passer.  NFL is about fit.

Geno would beat Bryce out in 2 weeks in a real camp battle.  Which ain’t Geno praise.  It’s just recognition Geno is a round peg and that is what we are lacking

Your Opinion.

Bryce is a better decsion maker and a more accurate passer.

Your obsession over a QB that can throw it deep is insane.  Throwing the deep ball is not the only requirement of a QB.   Whether you want to admit it. Bryce as won his last 4 games as a starter.

I don’t think nussmeier is worth a second after this season.

I agree, what I have seen from him is nothing to get excited about.  Who I do like is Simpson in Alabama. The guy has a cannon of an arm.  Seems to be very bright and I think last I saw he was late 1st but we'll see as the season goes on how he drops or climbs in the QB standings.

I think there will be some vets become available this offseason that I would consider bringing in to compete.

Mac Jones
Kyler Murray
Kenny Pickett
Tua
Mariota

We are not drafting a QB in the first 2 rounds.. we also have BY somewhat cheap still.. so our BEST option is to bring in people and have them fight it out in a true competition..

"Bryce has won..."

Good grief. We are 30th in the league in pass yards per game and 5th in rushing yardage per game. Meanwhile, Bryce is tied for the third most turnovers in the league despite missing a game while putting up these pathetic numbers. Bryce is getting carried. We are winning despite Bryce not because of him. It is what it is.

The Panthers will finish with at least 7-8 wins.  So that leaves them with only two "smart" choices in my opinion:

1. Sign a reasonably priced free agent QB and see if they are better than Bryce Young in training camp - The issue is there will be very little options.  There is almost no way the Colts let Daniel Jones walk.  Rodgers, Flacco, and Wilson will likely retire (and is Wilson better than Bryce anyway?).  Winston is under contract with the Giants for another year.  That leaves Mariota, which I'm all for, but the Commanders will make a big push to keep him given Daniels' injury history.  Outside of him, there is literally nobody else.

2. Stick with Bryce Young for one more year - Nobody wants this to happen, but the Panthers won't be in a position to draft one in the first round and it isn't a strong class to begin with.  Mendoza, Simpson (and do we really want an Alabama QB?), and Moore will likely all be off the board by the time we pick.  Bryce isn't good, but we are still 5-4.  I'd rather continue to build the rest of the team than reach for a QB.  Then we could set ourselves up nicely in 2027 to make a splash play if we choose.  This is how we should have approached years past; stuck with Kyle Allen or Sam Darnold or Teddy Bridgewater and kept building the team until we were ready to make a splash.  But every year we panicked and did something stupid.

There is the idea you could throw a dart at a guy in the later arounds, but IMO this just isn't a good QB class and odds are it will be a wasted pick.  I still think we need a lot of depth on the defense.  I'd rather focus there.

I hope we take an approach similar to what the Giants did. They signed both Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson then still went out and drafted Jaxson Dart in the late 1st. If you don't have a QB you can't leave any stone unturned. Wilson was ass, Jameis is probably still Jameis, but Dart is looking very promising. They gave themselves three chances.

Agreed. He would absolutely get signed elsewhere too after the success of other failed early draft picks at second stops.

I’m curious to see what his trade market would look like.

Obviously darnold was a 2nd plus, but there’s no way in the world Bryce can pull that with his size limitations and how much he’s regressed this season. Plus it would have to be a team willing to extend him because he’s not gonna go anywhere and play on the same contract.

I bet we just end up cutting him.

Bryce will not play on a one year deal, and he shouldn’t.

Maybe he wouldn't, but where is his leverage?  Sure, he could sit out... but are we really losing out on much if he does?  And there is only so long he could do that for.

It would be in his best interest to have the best season he possibly could before free agency.

It doesnt work like that.  Its either extend the 5th or move on.   Theres only been one qb that I am aware of that didnt get the 5th and still played on his fourth and it was a disaster .  They have to make a decision to either go with bryce 2 more years, move on or extension
