I feel like Dalton is getting a ton of poo for one game against a buzz saw with a broke thumb

It was his mental mistakes though that made it so bad Which he should get poo for.
Hel I was a big supporter but after that decided I don’t need to see him again.
A game like today will soften that attitude some.

so did anyone else feel like vegas wanted the panthers to win?  the crazy blocked field goal which if thats the rule would make more sense for teams to never attempt to block a fg.  or the 2 very iffy qb roughing....and some.more i cant recall just felt like they were trying to forcefeed the panthers chance after chance

If I thought the league was crooked, and I might think that, yeah it had that feel to it.
They tried their best. Anything more would be too overt, you can’t win them all.

Maybe it's because I had some expectations going in, but that's literally the worst I've ever seen us play.

Even our guys that played really well had some rough moments.

Scourton was the best player on the field for us IMO. I thought Jatavion Sanders was our best offensive player today. As much as I like the two of them, they can't be our best players on their side of the football the way we've allocated money.

Jaycee fell down twice and they scored two touchdowns on those plays. He's a big physical corner. He's never going to get touch calls. He lost his balance way before he actually fell on the Olave touchdown. I did not think that was anything close to OPI.

I actually thought officiating went far in our favor. The missed field goal thing gave us the ball with 4 free downs inside the red zone and we had an unbelievably bad fumble.

Bryce was miserable. The first INT that got wiped for RTP was telegraphed and thrown right to the linebacker. I don't know if the second was miscommunication or if he just didn't see the defender in the flat, but he threw it right to him.

Trevin Wallace was fine when healthy. DB was good, but not himself. Ick was our best O lineman, but even he had an egregious missed assignment that lead to a sack. Interior got bullied. T-Mac had some uncharacteristic drops. XL was not hustling on that fade route.

I think the way Chuba runs, he was a better matchup for what they were doing defensively.

Most alarming thing though is they dedicated 7/8 guys to stopping the run every snap. There was nowhere to run the football. They absolutely dared us to beat them throwing the football, and at times we would not do it, and at other times we could not do it.

Entire group seemed really "off" yesterday. Not sure what in the world was going on.

We have made some progress in other areas. Kicking game is tightened up. Defense is tightened up. Despite the ups and downs there is promise there. T Mac is a major add. Or will prove to be, I expect. We are developing OL depth with a lot of reps and at this point give Nijman some more.
Wallace seems to have gotten better over the season and may not be the bust I thought he looked like last year.
The draft class as a whole looks very promising.
That’s about all the optimism I can muster tonight.

While all that is true, we have added a Micah Parsons or a Jamar Chase or anyone at that type of level. That means that until we get a good QB, these minor improvements aren’t enough.

Interesting to claim the kicking game has tightened up after having a fg blocked.

i wouldn’t have done it, personally. But be as wrong as you want I guess.

That was me. Overall it has tightened up. Kickoffs are good. FGs are good normally. Punting game is good. PR isn’t bad.
I didn’t see what happened on the block, who let the guy through. I knew we were putting a couple of new guys out there but thought they we gunner types. Chisena.

The guy that blocked it actually didn't get through.  The kick was low and the defensive player stood up and timed his jump perfectly.  The fact that he was still at the line was why the ball got past the line of scrimmage which meant the ball was a free ball and either team could recover it.  That's how we got the ball back from that kick.  Which the offense then promptly fumble the ball and gave it right back to the Saints.

Thanks

yeah they explained the punt block ruling pretty well on radio, except I missed the part that you filled in about the who and where of the block and touching.

I can't remember who the poster was, but earlier in the year when we were making W-L predictions I said that I wouldn't count on sweeping the Saints and that person said something along the lines like he'd quit being a Panthers fan...or something like that if we could sweep the Saints.

I wonder if this person will fess up now, lol!
