I still don’t get the Dan Morgan mental gymnastics and how folks have invented this world where Morgan quietly raged against all Fitterer’s decisions with no evidence.

I think odds are Bryce present day is here because of Morgan more so than Tepper.  Tepper is horrible at hiring but Tepper isn’t the type to get stuck on ideas or people or afraid to admit mistakes (his is the opposite).

I disagree. I do think Tepper was a predominant driving factor on the Bryce thing. Now, do I believe he was convinced of that by the "braintrust" at the time, including Dan? Absolutely.

Tepper isn't going to accept any responsibility for all of these personnel hiring blunders. He is the type to believe that he knows best. It's literally his entire private life that indicates that.

If you have ever been around these ultra wealthy types, the one thing they almost all share is that their success in their fields gives them a massive overconfidence in their ability to master areas outside of their expertise.

That's David Tepper's NFL ownership in a nutshell.

By no means am I sold on Dave and Dan but Morgan played NFL football at a high level and knows what he is looking at. I firmly believe Tepper anchored these guys with Bryce and told them they had to try to fix him before moving on. Dan has made enough decent moves to convince me he understands how to build a team.

That is pretty much how I see it too. I think it was a condition of their employment.

That's why I immediately bristle in regular life when I hear randos extoling the "genius" of a lot of the technocrat class without actually understanding the realities of those people.

Admitting mistakes. Tepper is utterly incapable of that.

He doesn't view his fug ups as mistakes, he most likely views them as others faults for convincing him or not accomplishing what they should have. It's not his fault, it's THEIR fault for failing him.

The Purdy contract was incredibly dumb but at the same time he was being an effective game manager and they were winning games. I understand the fear of moving on from that. I think it was dumb and incredibly limited their future potential but it's a far cry from the Bryce situation where it's pretty obvious we have one of the worst starters in the league.

It set them back and will likely take them from contender to playoff participants. Kind of huge step back for them.

We can see it but again if they were at all worried about it then why not bring in a different #2? Lots of maybes. Maybe one does and the other doesn't. Maybe they signed on without that being a choice. It keeps going really. How is rolling into year 4 being hopefully any worse than signing a game manager to a crippling contract that could pay 2 great players instead?

I do agree they should se either but where is thr proof? I don't think we have seen it yet

Teppers MO would have been to cut Bryce and then hold a press conference mispronouncing his name and calling him short.

well we do disagree. And it’s really semantics.

Tepper has hired and fired at really absurd levels at Charlotte FC and the Carolina Panthers (both coaches and front offices). Thats IS admitting mistakes and moving on quick (which isn’t always the NFL way).

You claim it’s blaming others.  Doesn’t really matter how you frame it.  The moving on action is what it is.

end of the day when things are bad, Tepper is not the type to keep giving things that don’t work time.  That’s the philosophy of others.  Which you see by lots of NFL time.  Two different ways ego plays out.   Tepper isn’t riding some stock down the toilet when he realizes it is bad.  He sells.  Sure he might lay blame.

but the sticking with Bryce aspect screams others IMO.  Not Tepper.

Next Gen Stats Insight for Saints-Panthers (via NFL Pro):

Much of Tyler Shough’s production was directed outside the numbers, as he finished 11 of 16 for 202 yards and both of his touchdowns on such attempts.

His yardage total outside the numbers was the second-most by a Saints quarterback in the last eight seasons and most by any rookie in 2025.

NFL Research:

The Panthers had their sixth game of the season with seven or fewer points in the first half.

Carolina is 2-15 when Bryce Young starts at QB and has less than 70 yards in the first half in his career.

What are his two wins, GB and I can’t remember the other?

I think Bryce is here because of Morgan and Tepper. Morgan took the job under the condition that Bryce was the guy.

If than was the genius that he's been made out to be after this offseason, then nothing with Bryce, Dalton and Plummer makes any sense unless it was being directed from elsewhere. Tepper has also made it known publicly that he was throught the building giving his opinion vocally even though he's backed out of day to day operations, which is another way of saying, listen to what I'm saying or else.

Dalton was washed after last year. In no world did it make any sense to give him a 1 year contract, much less a 2 year. And Plummer, he was so bad last year he didn't belong anywhere near a football field again but we brought him back one more time. Then we bring in Hooker and White and let the trade deadline go by with QB play that is not only abysmal, but that actually below backup level in many statistical categories.

The only logical conclusion I can draw is Bryce was protected this season from any competition at all and Dalton was kept to be backup because he could never be a threat based on last year's play, which was confirmed by this year's play.

Everything that has been done from the trade, drafting Bryce, Mingo, Brooks, Sanders, Lewis, Corbitt, Hunt, Moton extension, Mitchell, Etienne, XL, TMac, all of it, has been to reinforce, double, triple, quadruple down on a guy who's first year performance, if judged in a vacuum, would have gotten him cut from most NFL squads based on mechanics alone.

Frank saw it and it's why he was fired. He didn't want him and didn't even try to build a game plan around him. Canales can't build a game plan around him. Defenses stack 8 or 9 in the box and dare him to throw and Sunday is what we got.

This is Tepper's ego in full force. It's the only true explanation for what we've seen the past 3 years. This is a man who refuses to admit he was wrong.

Yeah, I feel like the Saints biggest plays on offense came because our edge rushers completely whiffed on the sack. Slough then scrambled outside of the pocket and then hit an open downfield receiver. I'm starting to think Edge might actually be a bigger concern than Linebacker - we just don't generate any pressure with a 4 man rush unless DB beats the double team he is facing

Defense was awful IMO Sunday. It's just the offense was soooo ass that we are directing our hate more towards the O

Hard to fault  the defense when they were on the field all day.

the offense, i believe i heard, had 1 first down the entire second half  and only a couple in the first

you are correct that there were numerous whiffs by tacklers in any case

I meant to say  too that corbett needs to sit and so does moton

both are shadows of what they were 2 years ago.  Age and injuries

why canales finds it impossible to have rico and chuba in backfield together or tremble with a back is beyond me

they beed to find one route past 10 yards for young to throw consistently   Just one and if they need to go max protect for that,  then for the love of god, do it

The same line used at GB, in the same formation, should have stayed
