Official Week 11: Panthers @ Falcons Gameday Thread

I'm walking away from yesterday extremely pleased with the result, but also quite confused.

That was obviously Bryce's best game with us, and I'm not sure its even remotely close. Additionally, he was CLEARLY hobbled by an injury.

I thought the Falcons attacked us with pretty much the exact same defensive game plan the saints used. I did think the effort level and intensity our receivers showed was much better this week. I actually thought the o line was about the same as the saints game. I think Chandler Zavala is a talented kid, but he consistently misses assignments and makes mental mistakes.

Defensively, our lack of talent is really starting to show up. We need help on that side of the ball badly in the offseason.

I don't think Canales is a bad coach, I think he's learning and improving as we go. and In game coaching is absolutely a learned skill. That said, I do think he called a much better game Sunday opposed to last week. I do think Chuba is a better runner against the stacked boxes we've seen the last two weeks. Rico hits the hole so hard, and that's why he has a lot of the success he has, but sometimes, there's no hole, and a more patient runner like Chuba is the more ideal back, especially when teams have 8 and 9 guys in the box.  I also think it's ok to have two good running backs with different skillsets as long as you don't allocate too much of the cap to them.

At some point, we have to figure out the inconsistencies in the offense and how to address them. It is unconscionable that we looked like that against the saints and falcons in back to back weeks. There is no way to rationalize it. It's so hard to make a determination on Bryce young.

I don't honestly think this game showed us anything new. The next 6 games will show us everything we need to know because 5 of the games are against playoff contending teams.

I'm happy Bryce had a career game. He's been so bad in so many games that maybe this boosts his confidence and he can start delivering consistent performances like this. But the fact is, the Falcons are not a good team. They are poorly coached, they make a lot of mistakes, and they still should have won the game. And the Falcons probably would have still won if Penix didn't get hurt. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what happened in the game as long as you win, but zooming out on the game, there's still a lot to be concerned about as the games get much harder.

That was for pierce this year, and they did fleece them.

Penix was panic drafted in 2024 after they signed Kirk to a contract without doing a physical lmao

Falcons gonna Falcon. I thought signing Cousins was a bonehead move in the beginning. Drafting Penix was not a bad decision but wtf are you doing signing Cousins on top of it to that massive contract hahahah

They agreed to sign him in the legal tampering period and then decided to honor that even after they got a look at his medicals because who the fug knows

then they realized they fuged up and drafted 45 year old Penix who had had like 26 knee surgeries.

then they refused to bench cousins for weeks even though it was clear he couldn’t move enough to make a handoff

falcons man

As to the remainder of your post, there's a lot that I agree with.

The "Trade Player "X" bandwagons always fill up quickly on this board, and the one for Hubbard was no exception.

I'm a big believer in patience, and this is why.
