Most Surprising Win Ever?

I was watching a reel of fans singing Sweet Caroline and I started wondering if this was the most shocking surprise victory we've ever had.  I thought of one other game that was in that category but I'll wait to see what you have to say on the matter.  Where do you feel this one comes in a list of our most surprising upsets?

2022

- Panthers are 1-5

- HC was fired the week prior

- 3 days before the game CMC is traded to the 49ers.  Full #1 overall tank mode in affect

- PJ Walker is the starting QB

and we are playing Tom Brady and the Bucs.  So, obviously, we beat them by 17

2003 playoff Rams.

I knew they’d beat the Eagles after that performance but to take down the greatest show on turf in their house?

It's funny because during the '03 playoffs, there was a pundit who predicted all the divisional round games except ours were going to be highly competitive.

Quoting from his opening paragraph, "I think the Rams are gonna throttle the Panthers".

As it turned out, the other three games that weekend were all blowouts and ours was the game of the year.

Don't remember who it was that wrote that, but I do wonder If he still has a job writing about the NFL 😄

I wasnt even a fan at the time, but 96 panthers win over the cowboys in the playoffs comes to mind.  We were the better team, but a 2 year old franchise playing the dynasty in the playoff and to win is big.  I grew up in south louisiana and remember hearing how it was like 36 years before the saints won a playoff game, we did it in year 2.

That's definitely a surprising win, and probably in the running for the greatest Panthers game, and one of the best football games in general that I've ever watching.

I was watching at home, and probably the last hour I was on my feet.

Definitely. And what a win. Double OT.
And the next week AT the Eagles. Their old stadium with the jail cells in it lol.

A couple early on, 1995 1996 were big surprises. Expansion teams up until then had been really bad for a long time. Mostly.
I think the @Tampa game for that ‘03 season was legendary. We didn’t really expect to win.

The win at Green Bay was a bigger upset spread wise. If that means anything.

Not sure what the spread means with this team. The spread in general seems as much based on driving action for both teams as for actually being predictive.

That's always the reason for a spread. But that leans in to public perception and therefore surprise.

I'm not arguing that spread is most important aspect but it's something....

The 2003 win at Tampa.

It was their home opener following their Superbowl season, so banners were going up, rings were distributed, and they were opening up with a patsy team from some hick town in NC that was coming off another losing season, and still had 1-15 in recent memory.

The way the game played out was also shocking.

I would say our 2018 win over the Eagles was one that surprised me. Down 17-0 in the 4th Q and Cam somehow carried us to a win. Think that was the weird game Torrey Smith actually played well for us before the dude was never heard from again...

Feel like that year could have been special if fugin TJ Watt didn't destroy Cam's shoulder
