Why does Bryce get the blame?

An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce.

Here's a bit of truth telling though:

There are, in fact, things Bryce does well.

Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here.

He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games.

On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.

And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't.

The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong.

All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳

Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan".

Oy 🙄

The reality though?

Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse.

Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours

I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best.

And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong.

Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁

Bryce should take a discount hes living rent free around here

It’s definitely some sort of trigger point for some people. You can’t mention one thing Bryce has done well without a full meltdown. I’ve never seen anything like it…

Yeah at this point he still needs a pretty big jump in his development to earn a 2nd contract IMO.

I've been saying since his second season that I wish they'd move him to guard and look for a different left tackle.

He seems to have done better this season though, enough that several people are talking about paying him as a left tackle.

Icky has had a great year. He only struggled last game because he got hurt before halftime.

Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.

All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.

I don't think anyone here is saying Bryce Young is the future franchise QB we've been waiting for. But let's also not act like he has this great supporting cast. Receivers are not good right now. They're improved, but not really a good group yet. The oline has never really been great at pass pro, no matter how much they're getting paid. And the most expensive one isn't even on the field. Kinda weird that you keep circling back to that narrative.

Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young.

If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor.

Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.

The real trigger is when a bad starting QB is just flat out acknowledging as such and that we should view it as such as we plan forward……is meet by people defending Bryce for never ending pages/posts.

THAT is unlike anything we ever seen.

we should be able to say, yeah, we need to move on from that and then go about our business of talking the rest off the team, how to win today given what we have and talk about the future.

That guy still would argue today he was totally right about Fitterer and all his other trainwreck stances.  I still love his current stance that the horrific Saints backfield and a washed Kamara is basically the Panthers backfield lol.

Again I’m good if we move on. Mentioned it numerous times. The problem is anything positive is met with people freaking out. There is absolutely nothing we can do about it so just sit back and see what happens. We are allowed to mention if a player good or bad has a good game or did something well. I mean I will continue to do so and certain people are just going to have to accept it.

Because we've been gaslit for 3 years by every little thing he does that isn't terrible.  That's why.  Its pretty simple.

Fact is this is a .500 team without a QB.  I'd say that supporting cast is good enough.

Wasn’t good enough to tackle Tyler Shough once. I don’t pin the last one on him. The first one yeah, the last one was on the defense.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
