It's December and we are playing meaningful football

our entire coaching staff should return unless we want to upgrade DC

the draft class (McMillan, Scourton, Evans, Ransom) look solid

the free agent class (Moerig, Brown, Wharton, Rozeboom, Dowdle) all have contributed in meaningful ways

Canales will grow as a coach

Morgan is only getting started as a GM

Young has shown with a good game plan he can execute and drive the team to victory

We have one of the wealthiest owners in the league who has started to simmer down from being the lead guy but has the pockets to make just about anything happen

 

It's a new era in the NFC South

Oh I am confident we are taking the W in Tampa.... it just means more to DB/Horn then Baker/Evans.... but no matter what this is a successful season in my eyes

I agree with you. This team is definitely on the upswing. If Morgan can nail the 2026 draft as well as he did the 2025 draft, I really believe the Panthers can be a legitimate playoff team for the rest of the decade.

I think the two things that will affect our success the most going forward is improving the pass rush and the quality of QB play we receive (no matter who is behind center). The guys we drafted to pressure the QB will likely step up next season, and we have an entire off-season to acquire more talent.

The most important factor is defiitely QB. When Bryce plays well, we play well. Even his harshest critics can't dispute that. I've been as critical of Young as anyone on this board. That said, if he could master climbing the pocket like Drew Brees and improve his ability to attack the middle/intermediate areas of the field, I think we might be able to ride with him for the next several years.

I think Dave beats Seattle this week because they overlook us, and Tampa loses last second to the Dolphins.

Can totally see everyone being confused when announcers say Panthers win NFC South and everyone thinking the week 18 game matters.

Can also see none of that happening and the NFL making us and Tampa the SNF game week 18.

I could see this happening too.

1) We're at home which "should" be a plus (5-2 in Charlotte this season).

2) We are going into this game realizing that a win will clinch our first winning season since 2017 and gain a playoff spot to boot.

3) We seem to play up and down to our competition this year. Three of our loses are to teams that are at the bottom of the their division (Arizona/New Orleans--twice ) Three of our win were against teams with the highest ranked offenses this year (Dallas, GB, Los Angeles). The 3 teams that thoroughly whipped us this year have 11 wins or more (Jacksonville, New England, Buffalo).

I will say that I don't think Seattle will "overlook us". I just looked at the schedule. The top 3 teams in the NFC WEST have all clinched a playoff spot...but the division is still up for grabs.

Most people expected we should be at 10 wins. It’s year three of a quarterback on a rookie contract. Year three is the year you make a playoff push and year four is the year you make a Superb Owl run. If you can’t do it then, and the QB isn’t a Josh Allen or Mahomes, you may have screwed yourself into mediocrity.

vegas had us at 6.5 wins which I smashed the over in the offseason and collected on! This was a 7 win team expectation, nobody had us at 10 wins
