Fitz and Brees are definitely getting in this season and maybe Eli.

They normally only do 3-5 modern guys per season....Luke might get snubbed again. He should have been first ballot.

89 going to wait a while, if he ever gets in.

Eli getting in before Luke would directly fly in the face of the changes that were made to limit "less elite" players from getting in.

I still could see it happening, hes a Manning, won two rings, beat the undefeated Pats, etc.

He started 210 games straight and is 11th all time in yards and TDs. They can and will justify it. Id say hes a lock in their eyes and i dont agree with him over Luke either.

If you recall correctly, he was the longest debate last year in the HOF committee. I think that likely means there are some pretty strong supporters AND detractors.

I think he will get in eventually but I don't think this is the class to do it.

Eli is super weird.  Also shows the importance of not being great...but being memorable and relevant to the storytelling of an era.

Eli Manning 117 wins, 117 loses,  60% completion. 0 All Pros.

But beating Tom Brady and rings matter.

Ruined the perfect season for Brady. He should get an honorable mention at least just for fugging him over.

538 did a great breakdown on how he was the greatest average NFL QB in history.

I think that is accurate.

Holt was a stud for sure and should probably get in, I get this aspect of it. But still Smitty had twice as many All Pros as him, more yards and TDs, a rare triple crown and did it all in a run first offense while never having a top tier QB except a few seasons with Cam (past his own prime) compared to Holt in the greatest show on turf with Warner and then Bulger who was better than any of Smitty's QBs except Cam.

Smitty should absolutely be a finalist this year over Holt and Wayne. Fitz is rightly ahead of him.

Fitz has the volume stats but Steve Smith was a better player. Larry just got to pad his stats in ARZ being over targeted. Larry was targeted more Smiths career high targets over 9 separate seasons, never eclipsing 1500 yds. Smith is top 5 in 100yd games (ahead of Larry) and the only WR ever to lead the lead in YPG on a team dead last in pass attempts.

Oh don't get me wrong I totally agree Smitty was a better player. In the eyes of the HoF though, Larry has the 2nd most career yards and 6th most TDs. Those volume stats matter, especially when they are that high. He's a lock.

Why they keep disrespecting Steve Smith like that.

During his era there may have been two receivers more individually dominant, Moss and TO.

Holt played on a team with 3 other Hall of Famers, Bruce, Faulk, Warner, he was a great receiver but Steve was wrecking defenses for the most part by himself and when he did have support we got to a Super bowl and another NFC championship.

I would say TO and Moss for sure are head and shoulders (pardon the short pun) better than Smitty. Smitty is more in line with Andre Johnson, Chad Ochocinco, and Larry Fitzgerald talent moreso than Moss or TO.
