@mrcompletely11here is his chart from yesterday. It’s not the typically bad ones we see when he plays poorly. Granted Tampa’s pass defense is bad but he wasn’t the reason we lost yesterday IMO. There are plenty of games where he is and I’m fine with trying a different option. Using half a decade to see if a player can be your QB seems kind of crazy…

Trying to double down on Bryce Derangement Syndrome ain't the way either, bruh. You and I both know if he signed with Dabo you'd be blaming everyone but him every Sunday.

Missed this one.

If Bryce played for Dabo….I’m pretty sure I would talk about him in the EXACT same manner I did DJU.  You know, when I called out the worst absolute worst QB play in all the ACC.  I mean, you can find those posts here on the huddle if you were to go looking.   So yeah, I don’t do something different with “my college team”.

Bryce frequently is given passes on subpar plays because in the fourth he throws one pass against cover zero on fourth and inches when the defense is exhausted to get the team into field goal range. And the usual suspects will fall all over themselves hand waving the first 50 minutes because of the 55 yard game winning fg he was able to “manufacture”.

meanwhile, any other part of the team messes up once (ickey a few weeks ago getting pushed back) and that ONE play in the reason the panthers lost.

bryce was unproductive against a very bad, injured secondary. He vanished for most of the game. He had one horrible interception, and was involved in a mystery fumble we don’t understand yet. And this was a game where he had very good protection. And he got a gift TD from his defense.

a million things happen in a football game. There is one position that most frequently has the ability to outperform it all and impact the game. Bryce is the reason teams can play them a certain way because he can’t overcome it.

he is the reason they lost yesterday.

I never said he was the reason but he didnt play all that great.  Especially in the first half.  Just heard that for the last nine weeks we have one of the worst rushing attacks in the nfl.  Teams have figured us/bryce out.  I mean the data is right there in front of us.   It will be interesting to see how they address things come Feb but you are correct it shouldnt take this long wondering what you have at qb

Those two big running games came against two of the worst defenses in the league, one historically bad in Dallas. That said, it’s been cover one agains the offense ever since. And bryce still can’t make defenses lay. It’s maddening.

where are all those people screaming to extend Rico now, btw

That’s not so bad. Still an awful lot of inside 5 yard stuff. I’d like to see an overlay of all of them.  All 16 weeks he played.

What your going to find is exactly what the commentators said yesterday. He isn't comfortable throwing over the middle of the field. J stew said on his podcast, you have to be able to attack the middle of the field or it's hard to win games. Think about that does to an offense that can't attack the middle of the field. It cuts off 1/3 of the routes that we and tes run.  Now on top of that add bad footwork and floating passes and you get what we have

Oh yeah. Can’t see to throw in the middle.
Those throws to the sidelines are scary too. So much air under them. It’s closing time for defenders.

I hope we get rid of him. I doubt we will. I hope I can find a replacement passion/hobby for all the time I won’t be spending following the NFL. It is a lifelong addiction and hard to kick.

    • Different situation and context. To be clear, in general the Falcons were expected to compete for the division, and, to put it bluntly, we were not. The Falcons roster was generally thought to be ready to compete for a deep run when he took Raheem Morris took the job. Moreover, Morris and GM Terry Fontenot made the decision to take Penix Jr., notwithstanding all that money Kirk Cousins was paid, and the decision backfired big time.  The comment was a one-liner that doesn't pass muster when analyzing the two situations. As for David Tepper, I would think that it's pretty obvious that he has taken a backseat since Dan Morgan has been a GM. For those that don't want to give him credit for adjusting his modus operandi, I guess you'll continue to berate him into perpetuity because it's easy and "fun," I guess.  Admittedly,  has made what turned out to be boneheaded decisions in retrospect based upon what I'll refer to as "billionaire bravado," pre-Morgan, but it is what it is. Tepper was a bit of a control freak, and probably still is (they probably all are), but at least now he is letting football guys run the show. Now I'm not one that says the owner should never get involved, especially when things are going badly, but that should largely be to swing the axe, and signing off on major changes. Tepper wants to win, and he's trying to make it happen, and I can appreciate the improvement.  As for Morgan, and by extension Canales, we'll see. They're still relatively new at their positions (as is Tepper, relatively). They aren't going to be perfect, and are still figuring things out. I think that the improvement from the 2024 draft to the 2025 draft is stark, but you have to realize that the prior draft was hamstrung due to the residual effects of the king's ramson for Bryce Young, and it was this admin's first draft. And, of course, it must never be forgotten that they came into the situation hamstrung by Bryce Young, who was not their choice (especially DC's), and is a ways away from the prototypical franchise QB. In light of all that, I would be surprised if either is fired after the season.  Although I am skeptical and critical of Canales, and don't necessarily think that he has made improvements coaching---situational play calling in particulatlr---I still can't fully say he can't coach as long as he has Bryce as a QB. In one sense, I can say that it's amazing that he has improved in spite of Bryce's shortcomings, but in another sense I can say that we're not going to go anywhere fast, or anywhere at all, if this duo is allowed to go on, as Dave is coaching to Bryce's shortcomings (so to speak), because that's all that he can do if the team has any opportunity to eek out some wins.  In other words, I still don't know how this is going to go, but I do pretty much know that we improved, if only incrementally, and that Tepper's change is obvious, Dan's change from year one to year two is a little less obvious, though still stark, Canales may or may not have improved as he's tied down, and Bryce hasn't really improved at all. Admittedly, I don't think Bryce is the long term answer, so my opinion of him may be highly subjective, but I just don't see it. We don't know what the fug we're going to get week to week, and I see the same mistakes though Canales may be trying to mitigate them.
    • Going back to last night's game... man, I can't help but feel terrible for Tyler Loop. The entire season comes down to a rookie kicker and he just absolutely chokes on a 44 yarder. Gotta wonder if he'll recover from that. He's had a solid rookie season making 30 of 34 attempts but obviously missed the one that counted the most badly. He also went 1/4 from 50+ with a long of 52.  He'll probably have competition in camp next year. If you aren't good to at least try from 60 in today's NFL you about can't kick in the league these days.
    • That was the game that I got off the fence with Young. He lost me completely in that game.
