I don’t really think WR number rankings matter much in this offense.

If it does I think this is Dave acknowledging they’re going to have to throw the ball more on Sunday because XL is legit a good blocker. Or at least not bad enough I ever notice. Don’t think we’re going to be turning over Stafford three times again.

The issue with that is that Coker and Tremayne are also good blockers. They also don't get bone headed penalties or make insanely critical erros. So that one thing he does well isn't unique on this specific WR Corps.

Funchess wound up disappointing obviously but he was a wayyyyyy better player than Mingo or XL, albeit briefly. Funch was a legit weapon in 2017, not a great WR1 but actually a guy defenses had to care about. Mingo isn't even an NFL player and XL clearly not a starter which sucks for a 1st round pick we traded up for. I view guys like Funchess, LaFell as being worth their draft positions and having ok NFL careers (LaFell better than Funch clearly, but who knows what happens with Funch if there was no covid). XL and Mingo on the other hand are massive busts who are just flat out bad football players.

I think XL is also not an NFL player, TBH. IMO, he will actually be worse next year, whether it will be here or elsewhere(hopefully).

This maybe unpopular, but I would venture to sway that Coker is the best receiver on the roster at the moment. TMac has more potential, but as of today, Coker is the better receiver.

Over the last 5 games:

Coker: 24 targets, 19 catches, 79.6% comp, 3 TDs and 255 yards

TMac: 26 targets, 14 catches, 53.8% comp, 2 TDs and 231 yards.

Career wise:

Coker; 89 targets, 872 yrds, 73% comp, 0 drops, 5 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 113 when passing

TMac; 122 targets, 1014 yrds, 57.4% comp, 8 drops, 7 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 83 when passing

Cokers numers are very similar to Theilen's and Theilen was a 10 year vet who has been to the PB twice.

Coker; 89 targets, 872 yrds, 73% comp, 0 drops, 5 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 113 when passing

Theilen; 199 targets, 1629 yrds, 76% comp, 9 drops, 9 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 104 when passing

If TMac can bring his comp numbers up a bit, this offense could be pretty legit.

And one final tidbit of information. Going all the way back to Cokers' senior year at college, he has only had 2 drops. Pretty amazing.

Finally. I wonder where Coker would go in a 24 redraft. I would think no worse than the 3rd, but probably the 2nd.

It's weird because I as a non-college watcher heard about him and watched tape (that's what I call Youtube highlights) and could tell he was worth drafting. Teams just got blind to a non big name school talent.

TMac has work to do but he is the first potentially elite WR we have had in a long time. I am not worried about his catch% for a rookie(not uncommon for it to be lower than elite the first couple of years).

Coker is tracking well. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, because he technically has had very, very modest overall production but if he is given the correct opportunities, I do think he could be one of the best UDFA's we have ever had. It's going to be about the coaching staff actually finally realizing it.

I agree with Tmac and rookie struggles. That's one of the reason I feel good about the offense improviing next year. A slight improvement in his numbers and Coker just continuing his current pace would be pretty strong receiving core.

Agree TMac has elite potention. But for right now, who would you throw to with the game on the line? One play to win it all? Who would get open? Who would you trust most to make the catch right now?
