Our rookie seems to be calling out our defensive scheme

Recommended Posts

This is absolutely unacceptable. Genuinely, I'd cut him. He was not very good this year, and a bad attitude is contagious.

I'm also extremely interested to hear what scheme he knows of that helps DE's get to the QB easier. It's a mano e mano battle that is won or lost. He lost too often in 2025 (As most rookies do, even first rounders). The reason a good Pass Rusher is so valuable is because it's so hard to find guys that win often. It's a hard thing to do. An end that demands a double team commands a lot of money for that reason.  Could we blitz more often, sure, but the point of having good pass rushers is not having to bring extra guys all the time. Not to mention we already have a DT that commands a double, making his job easier in theory.

Even if he has this opinion, saying it into a microphone is simply the wrong thing to do.

I’m torn here.

Mu concern pre-season with Princely was his mouth/ego and wondering if he could back it up or if it would cash checks his rookie ass wasn’t able to support.

I like a voice and someone that says what’s on their mind, but as a rookie, I needed to see Jared Verse or Will Anderson type production for all he was saying.

That being said, he’s not wrong. I often times wondered why we saw so little of him and thought how on certain plays, he would’ve made an impact. He did not have a great year and was mediocre at best.

When we drafted him, he was more of a project that would yield results in a couple years. I hope he didn’t burn a bridge yet and comes back in 2026 ready to earn his time and show the folks that doubt him that he belongs in the lineup.

We are absolutely going to draft or bring in a FA EDGE so the clock is ticking on 3.

More likely that defenses without pass rushers are low sack generating.

but that’s the price you pay when you spend three seasons building one of the leagues least potent offenses.

Princely is not doing a good job with his media training it seems. He says the talent is there for our pass rush but something’s holding us back…..😳

Of all people, Princely probably shouldn't be talking... He has raw talent and potential, but he was out there screwing up a lot on the field this year

You have to have sound footing to call out the DC.

As Umanmielen routinely ran himself out of plays he's not the guy to throw those stones.

This right here... If DB or Nick says it, fine. A guy that looks completely lost on the field probably should shut his mouth and learn some pass rushing techniques and how to play his gap assignment

Yes, but outside of Chubb with Denver and Burns (lol) with us, he hasn't had good pass rushers. He, like many DCs, tends to value limiting big plays and making a team string together 10-15 plays to score a TD.

Outside of DB and Scourton, we are just trotting out JAGs with zilcho pass rush skills. Whether we blitzed or rushed 4, the QB usually had plenty of time. Even in the Rams game when Stafford struggled to throw completions against the blitz, he still had 5-7 seconds to throw the ball and just had bad throws. We also lucked out with Puka dropping that easy TD before the half when we blitzed also.

Second to nly Brian Burns in "sprints past the QB - no contact included"

At least one guys in the rooms has the balls to say it.. Tired of the same BS from Dave

Can’t believe this got 8 pies. Not saying he’s wrong, but who the hell is Princely? He’s a rookie who barely played. He hasn’t earned the right to say shiit about the coaches. Stay in your lane kid. If it was Dereck Brown for example, then that’s a whole different story.

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
