The CMC trade felt good to me at the time, felt like a win/win for both teams for where they were and given McCaffrey's injury history at a position losing value rapidly.

Now in Hindsight, we should've received 4 future first rounders + George Kittle 😂.

He has missed 22.5% of his games with the 49ers versus the 26.1% of his overall games with us. I would say that he has definitively proven to be an injury prone RB.

He was actually realistically probably worth less than we got for him.

Also, to compare to other HOF caliber contemporaries:

Derrick Henry: 8.2% of his career games missed.

Saquon Barkley: 20.3% of his career games missed.

Does anyone know anyone else that thinks he is an MVP candidate in line with quarterbacks? Honestly the only reason he is in these conversations is because he has literal Stan's in the media sphere. How many playoff games now have they lost by double digits with him? They even had to create an all purpose yards category to get him in an All Pro slot. Comical.

I don't know about the stans but he's at times been like 60 percent of the offense on a playoff calibre team. He put up 1202 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, then had effing 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He touched the ball 413 times this season (an average of 24 times per game.) Then you have to add in that he's a hell of a blocker when called upon.

Without him, the injury depleted 49ers in a hot NFCWest division don't make the playoffs at all.

If that isn't the Most Valuable Player on the team then who should be? The idea that it is an award solely for QBs is just narrow.

Edit to add: Will he win it? No.

Fair.

throw in the rumors of him not wanting to play even to he was cleared by the team doctors… I dont think he wanted to be a panther.

Rumours? He literally didn't play for us - loads of 'soft tissue' injuries.

This makes an interesting case for two awards: Best QB (We'll workshop the actual title) and MVP-Other.

MVQ, and MVP. It can be the same guy winning both in rare seasons. Sort of like Cy Young award and MVP in baseball. Can be the same guy but usually isn’t.

Sometimes trading a great player is the right decision for the organization. Like the Lions and Stafford. Stafford had been in Detroit putting up good numbers for years and they just couldn't figure it out and with him aging they made the right call that they probably weren't gonna figure it out before he went on the decline and decided to move him for a huge bounty. It obviously paid off for the Rams but the Lions have also had four winning seasons in a row now. It hurts to move a franchise player but sometimes it's the right move for the overall organization.

yeah idk, this is year 5 for Stafford in LA and he probably just won MVP. Meanwhile the lions have Jared good but not good enough Goff. If he collects a 2nd SB then man. Tough one to swallow.
