Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk.

In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.

Not sure. But, take long snapper and backup QB off and maybe Moore out of the WRs and we are probably a half year younger. Plus if it is an older data group Thielen might even be in it. 
 

I think it is almost quicker to pick out the over 30, 31, players than the real young ones. A bunch of young starters. Not to argue, I started out just to joke about how old our long snapper was. Then I started considering it.

He's talented and a good locker room presence but in no way is he a top 3 corner like he is being paid.

The thing is he won't be paid like a top 3 corner in another year.  That's the whole point of locking those contracts in early.  Also, I think he's very much in the conversation among the best in the game regardless of what he's paid.  Chris Olave has his number for whatever reason.  The best corners in the game almost always run into someone who's got them figured out.  He pretty much dominated everyone else all season.  When you factor in the nonexistent pass rush it only further cements his status as one of the best.

I mean we're splitting hairs there. Based on annual salary he is currently the third highest paid in the NFL.

He's gotta step his game up and continue to step into the role. I certainly hope he does and he's largely an easy player to root for. I can appreciate speaking up for "our guys" but getting swept by the rebuilding Saints with the division and playoffs on the line and just waving that off sounds like a loser mentality but that's just my opinion.

The sweep had a whole lot to do with a QB who couldn't eclipse 200 yards passing to save his life. I would argue that's the primary culprit.  Plenty of blame to go around.

      To be fair, Tyson is a well-rounded route runner, has good speed and great separation. I think of him as a taller JSN with the same wiggles and ability to play outside or in the slot. He would be a great cherry on top to our young WR corps between TMac and Coker.  He might not be a burner, but his short area quicks and ability to turn DBs around with ease is appealing.  Personally, I think it's a luxury pick and hope we go elsewhere. I think Dan and Dave do as well.  I also think DJ is one of the most respected draft analysts in the league. He has his fingers on the pulse, especially front office whispers, in addition to the draft prospects themselves. He's always been very fair to the Panthers, and IMO, covers them better than the Shultzes and Kipers of the football world. He also went to App St. Depending on how the board falls, Tyson could technically be seen as BPA at 19. Dude was and still is a top-10 selection despite a rough 2025 season at ASU. Our WR unit is not a complete room yet, so it's not that outragious if we truly are looking BPA.  Me personally, I want OT, LB, DT or FS at 19. In DJ's scenario, I'd take any of Faulk, Woods, Lomu or Allen. I personally like the Texas LB more than Allen, and think he's a better compliment to Wallace, but Allen does give me Jon Beason vibes, so wouldn't be mad there either.
