All signs point to legit. We’ve been way better than our record the last few years it’s just we’ve had brutal injury luck. Also I’ve watched nearly every game this year and 3 things have stood out to me even when healthy from early in the year to now:

1. Early on Lee had some brutal rotations and situational coaching but he’s improved a ton there. We lost some close ones early we should’ve won. Sure most our recent games have been blowouts but in close games we’ve improved a ton there.

2. Defense. Overall team defense has improved so much, it’s not just hot shooting winning games. This D is absolutely a real trend and sustainable. LaMelo in particular has gone from flat out bad defensively to above average. We have so much length we always should’ve been good defensively but it took time for guys to buy in and really hone in on it which they have.

3. Pretty much all our young guys have taken strides forward. Moose’s development as a passer has been insane, Miller is putting it all together to be an elite 3 tier scorer able to hit 3s, mid range and finish at the rim. LaMelo still some poor shot selection but has cut the turnovers considerably. Kon has been a great shooter all year but has steadily improved in other aspects of the game too.

It has definitely been surprising how quickly it all came together out of nowhere but really none of it surprises me. We’ve been building towards this for years now.

They're 32-31 and lost 3 1 possession games at the buzzer at the start of this. They could easily be 35-28 without those game winners in that week. That's not a crazy record but they were 11-22 to start 2026.

They're 21-9 in 30 games since January 1st and are 3 game winning shots away from 24-6.

This team should be able to play with any team in the league in the playoffs. I would be happy with a playoff series win but if they play their A game they're talented enough to make the Finals.

It didn't really come out of nowhere though. They are negative 6 in expected wins with an expected record of 38-25.

They just started the year unhealthy and were loosing close games.

It's the perfect storm of the starters finally being healthy for a stretch and the new additions panning out at the same time. Kon obviously but I think it's undersold how much of this is thanks to Diabate and Kalkbrenner filling the need at center that's plagued this franchise for like ten years

Second longest win streak by 15 or more points in NBA history.

The fourth team in NBA history to beat the last three NBA champions in a season, first in 60 years.

Lead the league in holding opponents under 100 with 15 games.
