I would not mind this   It is a smart move

The Carolina Panthers might catch themselves a hog molly this offseason.

Joe Person of The Athletic, in a fresh article from Saturday, offered up his biggest takeaways for the team heading out of the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. As part of his notes, he reports that general manager Dan Morgan and his staff are "spending a lot of time" on assessing possible additions to their offensive line—a position group that is likely to be without starting left tackle Ikem Ekwonu for at least a portion of the upcoming campaign.

Person also suggests a potential draft option. He writes:

Morgan’s “best available” approach isn’t just GM-speak. That said, an offensive tackle is in play for the Panthers at No. 19, where Alabama’s mammoth OT Kadyn Proctor could be available.

Pairing a draft pick like Proctor with a free-agent swing tackle like Yosh Nijman allows the Panthers to fill Ekwonu’s spot in the short term while giving a rookie a chance to develop before eventually succeeding right tackle Taylor Moton or Ekwonu, depending on how “Ickey” looks post-surgery and whether the Panthers sign him beyond 2026.

Proctor will get eaten alive by speed rushers.  If you think Ickey was prone to get beat by speed demons on the edge, well a 360 pound dude ain't your answer.

With Schoen and Dan Morgan being tight I’d figure we knew this was coming and since he is released, Dan didn’t bite.

But, a quick search says this is at least 80% cap related. They have No cap space and save 8 or 9 million with releasing him.  He has been a captain his entire time there. 145 tackles this year.
They are picking 5th with a new staff and looking at Styles.

Hitting that age 30 season and had a disc issue last year (meaning 2024) that did not require surgery.
I haven’t really watched him play but he activated the antennae.

Yep, I expect him to be Mekhi Becton 2.0. Even moving inside to OG hasn't been enough to protect him. He just can't move well enough. And Becton looked like a significantly better mover in college than Proctor did.

Do not want.

I agree with the OL approach at 19 but this is not the one.

Truthfully, if we can find a dance partner, I think moving back to the mid 20s is the better move.

I get this sentiment but a smaller tackle would be prone to get beat by bull/power rushers.  He played with a torn labrum all season and had zero pressures allowed against a very good Georgia pass rush.  I think all the LT prospects have issues. I am starting to like Freeling at 19 if he is there.
