I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer.
Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?

I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.

The new Jags' staff would like to re-sign Lloyd, they just can't afford him. That's the reality. Teams can't afford players that outplay their contracts every year. That's all this is.

Sounds good then. See that’s what paying 60 mil to your QB will do for you.

Getting a pass rush with 4 is the main priority on defense, but I'll happily take Lloyd to fix ILB.

A Lloyd and Chenal double dip in FA, and then devoting all high draft picks to the edges and fat men would make me happy though.

Hey, they're not all fat.

The tag for '26 is 28M. No way they tag him.  He is projected to be worth around 60M for 3 years so they could still try to sign him on an extension for about that amount: JagsWire

As someone else mentioned, the tag average factors in outside linebackers, aka, edge rushers, in the line backer formula.  If they would distinguish between olb and ilb, the ilb would get a lot less.

its almost if that big qb contract is tethering the team down

Yeah. They do the same thing with OL, all OL positions are included and that is why Ravens can’t or won’t tag Linderbaum - 28mil for a C.

And they could sign him but I think maybe his mindset for the last year is make them regret not having enough faith in him to pick up his 5th year.

I am not sure we should pay a ILB 20 million either.  I guess if there is a rookie next to him, you can rationalize it financially.
