He supposedly has short arms that may cause him trouble in the nfl but yeah kid is a beast, a very angry player

We passed on an all pro LT in Slater because his arms were considered short for the position. You don't pass on elite talent on the edge because his arms aren't ideal length.

His production does not suggest elite.

Morgan has done pretty well with trading down. I would be fine with it if the value isn’t there.

And he picks legit starters and contributors R2-5. I’d love for him to stockpile those picks.

Why, and what's your draft reco?

since I agree with him I will jump in and say we don’t use the TE enough to value one as a 1st. One of these threads just today people are posting pointing out that Bryce can’t see the middle of the field which is where a lot of TE eat. He likes to throw picks there too, I wonder why (can’t see). It just doesn’t help us that much.

And personally, just my opinion, Bryce has had enough top level investment dedicated to the pass game. Get a speedy WR later? I am fine with it and think that is all we really need anyway. Another 1st round pick? Hell no if I get to say. Which I don’t but no one else does either

As far as a TE, a pass catching RB would be of more use than a TE I think. We visited with one I think maybe Sr Bowl, that was a WR in school u til just this year when they switched him to RB full time. A guy like that could be put to a lot of use on these little 5 yard passes Bryce is so fond of throwing,

It is just past time to put some real talent into the defense for once and I want our top picks to focus there, personally. I would say unless we have a situation like last year where the difference in pure value is stark, I am pissed if we pass on a quality defensive player for another pass catcher.

Insightful thread. Seems like athletic testing hasn’t been much of a predictor as I thought it was.

Surprised to see the 40 as the strongest predictor by a hair but not surprised to see it as the metric that gets guys overdrafted the most. Not surprised to see shuttle and 10 second split as strong predictors. I've always thought those were undervalued. I am surprised to see the three cone as basically just a nonfactor. It's one I've always valued but the data doesn't bear it out. Maybe just drop it or find some other test that might provide better insight. That one just doesn't seem to matter at all so why bother?

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
