Jeremy Fowler: Panthers going after Odafe Oweh, Devin Lloyd, Tremaine Edmunds, Kenny Pickett

If Dan Morgan thinks Kenny Pickett is the best he can do to address one of the worst QB rooms in the league 3 years running he might as well go ahead and get his resignation typed up.

The way I picture it they sit down and say okay what are we gonna do about backup QB?

We’d have a room of QB coaches who endorsed Pickett. Which would be more troubling to me, probably.

If Edmunds or Lloyd aren’t Panthers within the first few hours of FA, I will be shocked.

Lloyd was my guy but the more I look into Edmunds, I think he is our new LB to run this defense.

Morgan drafted him in 2018 and moved up for him. They have a history and Edmunds spends time in Charlotte throughout the year. Same age as Lloyd and fits Morgan’s style of tenacity, physicality, speed and length. He can play inside or out and the potential of he and Moehrig lining up near one another creates havoc.

I do think he will come cheaper than Lloyd too…..not much, but some. Maybe some extra coin to throw at Mafe.

Edmunds/Mafe combo would feed families.

Well let's just hope it's more speculative than anything at this point in time. Bringing in Pickett basically defeats the purpose of cutting Dalton at a cap loss if they fail to find a trade partner which seems like the obvious outcome on that front. I see no reason why we can't at least do marginally better. And at the end of the day it is the most consequential position on the football field.

Surprised to hear the name Pickett. Not pleasantly.
What’s Metchie done in the pros?

Anyhow, the next couple of days, things should really start to move.

Metchie hasn't done much, but you know what it is (due to chemistry in college).

Of all these exciting and potentially difference making defensive options you guys are complaining about Pickett signing as our backup??

Well considering the biggest problem on our team is QB - yes, them not even attempting to address it will bring complaints from fans.

Yes. This organization continues to be obsessed with QBs who lack an NFL caliber arm. It's deeply concerning. It still feels like we're protecting Bryce and we just don't want a guy on the roster who might make Bryce look bad in comparison in camp.

Meanwhile, the late round rookie QB we seem to be keying on...

We definitely seem to have a type.

Kenny "small hands" Pickett?! Fuggin really? I guess they gotta keep the "small" going in the QB room somehow. Might as well just hand Bryce an extension at that point.

Really feels that way. If you can make NFL throws that might make Bryce look bad you keep not apply. It seeks like we're very serious about upgrading the talent at every position except QB.
