Panthers HC Dave Canales hints at adding more weapons for QB Bryce Young

When they say they are building it around what he does well, they are basically saying they are limiting the playbook.

If they ever sub in Pickett it will be automatically obvious what the game plan is which is horrible as far as strategy goes

I think the best thing that could happen for us this year would be for Pickett to have to play and do better than Bryce. Maybe that would give them the cover to upgrade the position.

It is a historically deep wr class so i hope we don't pick one at 19.  There is also no real consensus on who the best wr is.  I've seen Tate, Lemon, and Tyson all at the top spot.  I feel like TE goes pretty deep too although Sadiqu is the clear no. 1.  Trade back and pick up your wr and te later.

very good read from Joe

and notable that Canales says the Panthers want to bring in players "that will complement what Bryce does" -

RBs, WRs, and OL who can tackle?

Just kidding.  On a roll.

Weeks ago I tried to warm the huddle that WR/slot/TE was in play for 19, mainly 19 since the number state its correct.

I mean Matt millen drafted a QB at #2 overall.

Then the next three he used on WRs.......

Odds have Panthers to copy this.....

Yet we mocked you.  Look who's laughing now!

I am still not TE warm, but I sense they might take a duck.  He would change the offensive packages more than any other position, imo.

Another thing--Dan tips his hand a bit when he loads one side of the ball in free agency--then he uses the draft.

He addressed Edge, LB, S, with starting-level players.  On offense, he let starters Mays and Rico go-- we lost Nijman, and Ickey, XL is possibly a bust--it makes sense that he leans into the offense this draft.

At the same time there were comments about Bryce isn’t getting that extension unless he proves he can be good all the time. He is not consistent.  Or has yet to show he can be.

Paraphrasing, but it goes to what I and a lot of us have been saying.  That floor has to come up, can’t have crap like Arizona and Miami and New Orleans and SF the Jets and 54 passing yards for an entire game, and the low 1st half numbers be the norm. Again.

It is just a repackaging, if even that, of what we know they have been doing all along. Giving him every chance to succeed.

Sigh…. I hope they don’t spend yet another first round pick on a receiver.  I am fine with drafting a WR but damn, gotta have some limits.

If it's a receiver, so be it!

Give me someone up front, either side of the ball, over WR. Or TE. At 19.

It's what they should do. But they never do what should do. It's why they have been struggling to get out of the nfc south cellar for nearly a decade.

Sounds like another year of Nick Scott starting and the defense getting torched. Their only hope now is Bryce finally turning the corner.

They've had 1 WR visit and 3 safety visits.

Morgan seems to get it. Let’s hope he can stand his ground against the finesse football people.
