So you too? Are you guys just not doing your research? If we draftΒ in the first, it will have nothing to do with marketing the "local kid," and everything to do with his explosiveness and upside.

Personally I would rather deep dive the whole WR class and see if we can get a solid talent at the position in another round. We have been falling into the same traps repeatedly with overvaluing certain prospects and what have we had to show for it? It's time to approach the draft more tactfully. That's our pathway to any level of sustained success.

We have Brandt Tilis now.Β

brother I see 3 names near the top and KC is right there. I guess they maybe not the same, but this against zone...which is a _______ NFL D. You can draw your known thoughts.Β

I see you read Reddit...

Anyway, there are different numbers floating around, not that YPRR against zone or man is the litmus testΒ of how well a player will do in the pros, but I'll give you that about zone. Just keep in mind that he was a different receiver at Texas A&M.

There's a bunch to like about his game. For you to look at a metric and draw a conclusion or parallels is just selling him short. No analyst I've listened to has drawn that conclusion.Β

This link is specifically geared to Carolina (the vid is on top).

Matt Harmon of reception perception is really high on the kid, and he's another one (along with Josh Norris) that says it wouldn't be a surprise if Concepcion turns out to be the top receiver in the class.

We had him for that terrible 2024 draft.

If you want to credit him for 2025 you need to blame him for 24. Tillis is 1-1 with the 24 draft being quite bad.

No mulligan for little time to develop? They barely got their feet up under them, but point taken.Β

I mean, I don't know what you're seeing or reading, but I've heard (not read) several analysts say that Concepcion plays stronger than his size. Like I said, you've got it twisted apparently. Keep in mind that these are only a few. The dude is as tough as nails from what I've been looking at.

"Concepcion is a very dynamic runner after the catch who shows impressive vision, can make defenders miss in a phone booth and shows good competitiveness to finish his rushes. His role as a rusher hasn’t been as prominent recently, but received a lot of carries as a freshman. Gives pretty good effort when stalking opponents in the run game, with a physical temperament and better functional strength than expected."

https://www.fantasypros.com/2026/01/2026-nfl-draft-scouting-report-kc-concepcion-wr-texas-am/

"Play strength is better than you’d expect given his size, a little bit stockier and stronger than this type of receiver typically is"

https://jonledyard.substack.com/p/2026-nfl-draft-scouting-report-texas-eae

Strong Hands and Competitive Toughness

"Despite not being the biggest receiver, Concepcion attacks the football, finishes through contact, and plays with noticeable intensity. He’s reliable on contested catches and tough over the middle."

https://www.draftnation.com/articles/2026-nfl-prospect-profile-texas-am-wide-receiver-kc-concepcion

Go watch his highlights, it’s a lot making defenders miss not breaking tacklesΒ

9% drops?Β  That scares me.Β  However, the average in the NFL (drops) is around 6.5%.Β  Having played in college with a variety of QBs (practice--we had 9 qbs during the 2 years I played), I can say some throw an easier to catch ball than others.Β  Personally, I see his stock rising and it seems by April 23, he might be a top 15 pick.Β

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈUSA USA USAπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.Β  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).Β  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.Β
