Nah this cant be real..

And side note: Here is the list of 7 Qb's still available at this moment.

Rodgers, Taylor, Rush, Wilson, Garoppolo, Bridgewater, Rypien..

....options aren't great but u mean to tell me that Grier and Pickett were the best combination we could assemble since the start of FA?...lol

Probably a lot cheaper signing Grier, especially for the practice squad guy.

You are thinking waaaaaaaay to deep into a QB signed in mid April who might make the practice squad at best.  The whole Tepper Bryce bit it just boring at this point.  To even connect Tepper/Bryce to this signing is just absurd.  Pickett is simply a backup QB.  He was one with the Super Bowl winning Eagles but suddenly on our roster he is the worst QB ever and only here because we are afraid to give Bryce any competition?  No.  He is just a young backup QB to take Dalton's spot.  We have visited with Pavia, Robertson, King, and Payton off the top of my head.  We either didn't like this class or wanted to go ahead and have another QB in OTAs so we signed a cheap QB3/practice squad QB which is exactly what Grier is.  If we are wanting to replace Bryce, next year's class looks to be the one IMO.  Very few QB2s and virtually no QB3s are challenging even a struggling starter like Bryce.

The pattern of what we've done before, during and after the trade and selection of Bryce points to Tepper being involved in his selection and continued presence as the unquestioned starter. Pickett sucked in Philly, he just didn't start. If he hadn't sucked, Pittsburg wouldn't have gotten rid of him as a 1st round QB. Grier is so bad we already cut him once. He offers zero upside. There were FA QBs available last season that we could have gotten over Dalton who actually outperformed Bryce. The bar is low, ridiculously low. But we keep adding people who have proven they are below that bar.

Bryce is a bottom tier QB. We should be actively looking to improve the roster. You can say virtually no QB3s and few QB2s could challenge Bryce. That's true. But it also means there may be some that can. We're not looking for those guys. We should be. They could definitely challenge a KP or Grier.

The goal is winning seasons and winning the division. Relying on the Falcons to win so you can get into the playoffs with a losing record in a weak division isn't a recipe for success.

You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.
Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.
The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….

I see both sides of the arguments, but compared to last year we're somehow at an upgrade over completely fried Dalton and wasn't even good in college Plummer. At least Pickett and Grier probably have some desire to make more money when Dalton was happy to just go through the motions and I will never understand why they even bothered with Plummer.
