This is probably Moton’s last year and Ickey’s recovery is going to take time. And we need to upgrade our edge protection if and when Bryce is extended.

Most of those problems can be handled the following offseason though, whether through the draft or free agency. Time will tell but it feels like bigger upgrades may have been available at 19

Wasn’t me but yeah I saw that too, there was some conflicting info but I was under the impression the Packers guy was our Ickey insurance. I admittedly didn’t follow pre-draft stuff much but didn’t seem like OT was projected at all? I was excited about Thieneman but oh well

I would like Thieneman still, and I’m trying to figure out how Freeling fits considering we signed the guy the Packers released too.  I’d expect they view Freeling as a starter.  So unless they plan on moving on from Moton, it’s less value than Thieneman who would be an instant starter.

Playmakers available and we take a high risk project OT? Boom or bust pick. Why is the Panthers front office in love with project players with 1st and 2nd round picks? I thought the Panthers made the realization with the TMac pick to go with the pro ready impact pick.

Cross your fingers and hope Monroe is a boom and quick study. Complete opposite of Ekwonu with excellent athleticism and pass protection, but is below average for the league when it comes to run blocking.

Monroe continues the trend with TMJ, Ekwonu, Young, Mingo, XL, Brooks, Scourton.

Horn and TMac are the only pro-ready picks taken in the first 2 rounds for the past 6 drafts. Expecting more of the same in the 2nd round now. That will be 9 project picks in the last 12 core draft picks plus all the additional picks and proven players used to trade up for those projects.

If you toss in the 3rd round picks, it looks even worse. How is a team suppose to compete when it keeps going with a draft strategy reserved for consistent playoff teams with a winning foundation?

We can’t lose selecting Freeling. He can play LT while Ickey is out and eventually replace Taylor Moton or Ickey for that matter

I think the plan is ickey replaces Motown and feelings grows into the LT and walker gets a 3rd round comp......

or screw it hold on to the goods, I like having NFL OTs.......
