damn Miss Cleo, you seem to know everything when it comes to the draft and teams decision making. I can't believe nobody has hired you as their GM yet!

I don’t even care enough to look. But it was 5th round pick or 4th it isn’t really important to this point: if the value of ours only gets us halfway there?
I would look and see who is/was halfway between us and Baltimore and start there.

We get it, you like Miami. I do to but a player with alarmingly short arms at a position where you need long arms and slips in the draft is not generational. I would wager Keionte Scott has more of an impact for that team over time than Bain.

He had 5 sacks in the Playoffs, against the best teams in the nation.

I mean, I don't know what to tell you if you can't see that.

Freeling and Bain are going to battle it out for a decade in the NFC South. Should be fun to watch.

Freeling is going to be a stud. It was a great pick given the situation with Icky. If Icky can come back and slot in at LG the Panthers line is going to be strong on that side for many years to come

Bain gave the #17 pick in this draft one of the worst reps I’ve ever saw as a true freshman. Picked him up and set him aside. Those who only catch Miami games in passing will see soon. The length is going to prevent him from ever getting elite sack numbers, but he’s always going to get his. The power and relentless attack every down will continue to suffocate the player across the line as it always has, Trex arms be damned. Glad we valued OT, we are going to need great play there and I think we’ll have a stud.

incredible performance, not a generational talent. strange that size is an issue for you with Bryce as an NFL QB but not for a DE that hasn't played in the league yet.

I hope Freeling is a stud, but he's a roll of the dice.

He's far from the finished product. Our OLine coach was giving him pointers at his Pro Day - he knows how much work Monroe has to put in.

From a size / weight / agility standpoint he's the prototype LT. He needs to clean up his technique as he's winning on athleticism a lot at the moment, which won't fly in the NFL.

Bain is a beast. I won't deny it. I mentioned it in another thread, but one of Mesidor's sacks was only because Bain shoved Mesidor's body at the quarterback like he was bowling with him. I have never seen anything like it. I hate that the Bucs drafted him.

That being said, Bain has to be perfect in order to compete week to week. He plays a high contact position in a game where the most athletic and lengthy have the advantage. I think he will still be a force, but his impact can be minimalized with right blockers and schemes.

Freeling has the opposite problem. He's a long limbed, athletic puppy. He has ALL of the advantages physically. He just needs to add strength to his body and improve his technique. In two seasons, Freeling could end up being regarded as one of the best LTs, if not THE best in the game. That's where his potential is.

Both have the potential to boom (Freeling's ceiling is much higher though), but Bain has the higher probability to bust. Just looking at it logically.

I don't go in for the draft crush stuff because it usually just ends up in people going off the deep end for "their guy".

Surprisingly our OL staff has been pretty impressive the last few years. Don't see any point to be pessimistic about Freeling until we get to see him with some development under his belt in the summer.

Either way for the long term the most logical reasoning dictates we made the most sensible investment with the pick given the plethora of circumstances that has revolved around our OL for years now.

Bain belongs in a zoo, that kid is a beast.  I dont give 2 shits about his length he is a dangerous man.  That said I love the monroe pick
