Want to bring out the best in people ? *Clausen*

Clausen is going to look like a completely different player this year. And if Newton is for real, then we'll have some serious trade bait in him.

I expect Pike will look a lot better this year too, and by next year he will be a more than capable backup for Newton.

This could be the start of the best QB situation in franchise history.

I could be wrong but Clausen won't be starting unless Moore is gone and Newton doesn't pick up the playbook. In any event I doubt Pike is even here at the end of camp.

I still think they bring in a vet.

This is one of the main reasons why I didn't mind the Newton pick as much.

The team now has three young guys competing for QB. Somebody has to earn it, and I can't wait to see how it turns out :)

Though I think it's humorous how people that weren't in support of the Cam pick are accepting him to the team with open arms while Clausen still gets hung out to dry. Got to love double standards. Whatever happened to support them if they're on the team?

For some maybe. I'm still puking over the Clausen pick and have been down on that since a year ago. Being proven right doesn't do much for my "fanhood" as that move coupled with the off-season Jerry Richardson saga and his tanking of last season has left a very sour taste in my mouth for this franchise.

Love the way people here bash a Kid that was put in a terrible situation! I hate that we drafted Cam but I would never wish the Kid out of a Job. Some of you are just terrible!

What will happen IF, and that's a big IF, Jimmy does improve drastically? Comes in and wins 10 games this coming season. Will you be calling for a trade then? How about cleaning out his locker? Kid had issues last year but so did the ENTIRE team! There has been enough Jimmy bashing from last year, the kid is there; he is there early and he is there to work...let the competition begin but let it be fair and open minded!

what if DeAngelo Williams grew wings could fly?

It isn't like Clausen didn't have competition last year for most of the season. He was worse in practice than on Sunday. NFL history shows QBs don't change much from year 1 to year 2......if they do anything that get a little worse.

I think Clausen has a place on this team for the moment. It is on the bench. He has work to do...and I hope he does it.

Clausen will Improve with good coaching alone. How much is yet to be seen though. In a perfect world he could come out strong this year and manage the team.

If he and Cam both blossom, then we have a great opportunity to trade one of them...unless we just let him go ala Peppers and Brees.

What if Dewayne Jarrett could catch a pass?

the way you defend that guy I can't believe the way you bash on Jimmy given the situation he was put in

To each their own I guess!

I hope Cam does well, but jeez give it up already, no need to keep beating a kid in the ground!

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
