I just remember watching him several times during pre-game warmups practicing FGs from mid-field and being pretty accurate.

Kai Forbath - Positives: Right-footed kicker who gets power by taking an aggressive swipe at the ball. Gets plenty of height on kicks, even from 40-plus yards out. Solid 52-55 yard range. Consistent route to the spot, keeps his head still, clears his hips and follows through for maxium height and distance. Solid end-over-end ball movement with a slight draw. Equally dangerous from either hash mark, as well as down the middle. Mentally strong, does not let the pressure eat him up; kicked 51-yard game-winner against Oregon State in 2010 after missing from 46 and 49 yards earlier.

Negatives: Accuracy dropped in 2010, going three-for-seven from 44-49 yards. Does not handle kickoff duties (though he did have 150 touchbacks in 188 kickoffs in high school). Gets tight with his swing on occasion, bringing his hips through too quickly and overhooking the ball. Lack of elite leg strength may hurt him in colder weather; his kicks lose trajectory in the cold, as well.

Josh Jasper - The only Consensus All-America placekicker in school history … Capped his four years at LSU as the most accurate kicker in school history, connecting on 47-of-56 field goals for 83.9 percent for his career … The 83.9 percent ranks first in LSU history and second in SEC history … Also set school record for field goals in a season (28 in 2010) and field goals in a game (5 vs. Mississippi State, 2010) … The 47 field goals rank fourth in school history, while the 56 attempts is No. 5 in LSU history … Ranks No. 10 in school history in point-after conversions with 75 (on 76 attempts) … Connected on 16 field goals of 40-yards or better, including 5-of-7 from 50-yards or more … Kicked a 53-yard field goal vs. Louisiana-Monroe in 2010 for his career long, just one yard shy of tying the school record.

One of only four kickers in LSU history with multiple made field goals from 50 yards or beyond … Also handled pooch punting duties for LSU in 2009 and 2010 … Punted 41 times in career with a 39.8 average … Had 25 of his 41 punts downed inside the 20-yard line, including 14 of 21 in 2010 … Gained notoriety for his knack for pulling off fakes, including one late in the fourth quarter against Florida in 2010 that helped the Tigers beat the Gators in Gainesville … Also successfully faked two punts in 2010 … Twice named as LSU's permanent team captain for special teams - 2009 and 2010 … Invited to participate in the Senior Bowl in January 2011.

Dan Bailey - Positives: Right-footed kicker with a smooth, consistent approach to the ball. Nice trajectory on most field goal attempts, ball flight is straight and end-over-end. Solid 50- to 52-yard range. Maintains balance during placements to compensate for poor footing.

Negatives: Will occasionally yank a placement left and low -- still going through the uprights. Leans back when going through the ball. Half-step starts his approach on placements. Did not handle kicking duties until bowl game due to regular specialist's academic suspension. Inconsistent during career on longer field goal attempts.

Jake Rogers - Positives: Smooth kick through ball, looking almost effortless. Gets excellent trajectory with upright swing and solid leg strength when in rhythm. Triple threat as a kicker. Gets four-plus-second hang time on kickoffs, putting them a few yards deep into the end zone or into a corner inside the 10. Drives the ball through the end zone when not worried about hang time. Capable of turning punts over, has a chance there with coaching. Nine career special teams tackles.

Negatives: Tall, lean build. Slow approach on field-goal attempts, must speed it up to prevent blocks at the next level. Speeding up delivery may cause even more inconsistency. Gets tight and cranks his hips too far when needing to pull the ball from the right hash or from long distances. Hooks the ball (though it is consistent). Misses appear to affect him mentally.

Thomas Weber - Overview: Weber entered the 2007 season having to fill the shoes of four-year starter Jesse Ainsworth and wasn't assured of winning the starting job. A year later, after making 22 of 23 field goals and 42 of 44 PATs, Weber was recognized as an All-American and Groza Award winner. Of his 22 successful three-pointers, 16 were from 30 yards or longer and he was 6 of 6 on attempts of 40 yards or longer, including 2 for 2 on attempts of 50 or longer. His only miss was a 32-yard attempt against Oregon. Only a redshirt freshman, Weber will have to continue this consistency throughout his career before he appears on the radar of pro scouts.

Positives: Good size and overall athleticism for the position. … Excellent accuracy and leg strength. … Can handle pressure. … Gets his kick up quickly. … Versatile; also contributes as the team's primary punter.

Kasay was 11/11, 100% on field goals under 40 yards last season. That's up from his 93% career average from under 40.

He was 11/14 from 40-49 yards, 79%. That's up from his 75% career average from 40-49.

He was 3/4 from 50+, 75%. That's up from his 51% career average from 50+.

Overall, he was 25/29, 86%. That's up from his 82% career average.

He had a great year last year AND the kickoff rule change is in his favor too. There's no reason to use an actual draft pick on a kicker.

How early, is too early to pick a kicker? I think someone like Henery will go much earlier than most kickers.
