Is this a good or bad thing?

A little tidbit I picked up from nfl.com:

The Titans were boasting a bit about limiting Cam Newton's effectiveness and thought they got in his head some. The Titans sacked him five times, forced a fumble, picked him, and had Carolina going three and out all game. Lions coach Jim Schwartz spent the bulk of his career as a defensive coach in Tennessee, and still knows the scheme and players there. No one is better positioned to copy cat that film, especially with his defensive line.

On one hand, as the article says, he will be able to mirror Tennessee's gameplan (which wasn't all that complex to begin with) with a more in depth knowledge than most, on the other, Cam and the team will be fresh off of learning how to fix those struggles. It is something they just watched the tape on, just fixed in practice. Cam is obviously prepared to face it again going by off his "copy-cat" league statement the other day.

So, you tell me. Is this a good or bad thing?

IMO, we have done a good job of adjusting to what defenses have thrown at us all year. It may work the first time, does not mean it will work the second. At least I think that is what I have seen.

Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Then again, maybe I just do not understand the question.

Oh well, GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Teams for the rest of the year will be looking at the Tennessee game as a blueprint on how to limit Cam. If Detroit has success as well, it will be the only thing we see. On the other hand if we come out and tear things up it will be seen as an abberation last week and not the way to beat Newton. So I hope they do exactly what Tennessee did last week. We will get to see if Chud and Newton can effectively change strategies and gameplan. I expect more running, more hot reads, short passes and more timing routes. Cam in his Wednesday media interview said that he has been working on throwing the ball away, looking for hot routes, and getting the ball out faster. I look forward to see how it pans out.

I think the whole team and staff was embarrassed last week not to mention the fans, I don't see a repeat of that again this year. The Panthers will come out swinging and look like a team that wants to erase a bad memory.

Maybe true, but the Lions are also coming off a bad loss. They're gonna be hungry for a W too. So as usual, I have no idea what to expect. What's new this season?

I've got an idea, let's not give up 14 points on defense and ST's right out of the chute and drop 15 passes and we should be okay.

I def. agree with this. A touchdown or two would be cool too. :banghead:

One thing that discourages me is that Detroit has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.

One thing that encourages me is that they have average linebackers and a poor secondary. They don't have a single LB on their squad that can do what Akeem Ayers for Tennessee in that game on Sunday.

    • Absolutely … watching from Colorado, man oh man it makes my heart warm knowing how much our Panthers are loved and supported back home these days. This season was a massive step in the right direction after everything since Tepper took over.   But say all you want about Tepper, but let’s be honest , he has turned a corner and has truly embraced the Panthers history and culture more so recently , and we saw it on full display in Charlotte Saturday. I’m truly so damn proud of our Panthers …. Time to buy that DB #95 jersey… love this team and our fans so damn much. Been a fan since Day 1 when I was a kid in Charlotte and to see how far we’ve come and to have faith in where we’re going in the future truly brings a smile to my face.   In a world currently full of despair and pessimism, thank you to the 2025 Carolina Panthers for giving us hope once again. Time to let Dan Morgan cook… KEEP POUNDING 🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙
    • It's been one hell of a ride this season. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed football for an entire season. There are still a lot of things that frustrate me about this team, but they somehow made it work and put together something pretty impressive. I'm still worried about us being stuck in mediocrity, but hell, that's a lot better than where we've been.    Also, hats off to the fans! What an impressive showing last night. That was the most wild it's been since the 2015 NFC Championship. The place was absolutely rocking! The fans showed up! This is one of the things that has been missing for so long. Despite the loss, I had a blast last night.
