Brandon LaFell

Runs such nice routes and catches the ball well, but I think I saw on Sunday what is holding him back from possibly moving into or getting closer to a starter's role.

There was at least two times on D-Wills runs where he was able to break through the line and get downfield where I saw players blocking downfield for him... but LaFell was just kind of standing around.

One thing Smitty and Legedu do well is go into beast-mode blocking downfield. At LaFell's size, he needs to find that beast-mode for himself on running plays.

I have not noticed but if so he is right where he deserves to be, behind Naanee. There is no reason a guy his size cannot blow people up and look forward to every chance they get to do it on the field.

I will pay closer attention to him. When DWill runs I always get caught up in watching him unfortunately.

Legadu sucks at blocking

In his defense he has been better at both catching and blocking here lately but I still feel LaFell is better. Hell Sunday he almost caught a ball thrown behind him where he had to twist around to get it. I mean he does that so much those catches are common for him.

Where do you get that from? He hasn't shown me anything that says he is a bad blocker.

He whiffs and flops around all the time. People say he is a good blocker.....he hasn't been in Carolina. He plays b/c he knows the plays and helps people lineup.

He makes a catch here or a block there.....but he hasn't been close to consistant at anything outside of running the right routes.

I think a lot of his blocks go unseen. Also, people will watch one bad play and make generalizations about players. That's what happened when people saw Legedu for the first time and thought he was "garbage."

That being said, LaFell should be starting over him. But most people would agree with that.

He was bad in the preseason at it....and I watched Legadu a lot early on. I will admit the past couple weeks I no longer pay attention to him.

But he was especially bad when they motioned him to pick up blitzers and bodies for the run game. That probably more so than his downfield blocking is why I say he sucks.

The only thing holding LaFell back is Naanee's knowledge of this offense. DeAngelo said Naanee is helping to make sure people are lined up in the right spots, etc... so it's like having a coach out on the field.

Beyond that, Naanee does seem to have a knack for finding the soft spots in a zone and sitting in them, he's been somewhat of a safety blanket for Cam, especially without Shockey for these past two games.

LaFell is clearly more gifted, but right now Naanee has the edge in terms of knowledge and experience.
