Cam Newton Postgame video

Cam seemed pretty upset. Rough transcript, but listen to it yourself for more specifics:

Rough questions. Many guesses at the questions, kinda hard to hear them.

CN: Lack thereof of finishing. We needed this game to stay alive but we couldn't do it.

What happened on the interceptions?

CN: Uhm... I don't know it was a bad pass, bad throw, both interceptions were my fault, can't do that, not if you expect to win in this league, you have to protect the football. I did a poor job of doing that today. Without those two picks I think the team has a better chance of winning today.

CN: Everybody else was doing there job, we came back had a succesful drive but we just gotta finish. We had two opportunities to put points on the board and failed at both. Poor read and missed field goal. Have to be prepared through the outcome fo every drive to be succesful and we didn't do that in the second half.

What was it you guys had in the first half?

CN: I don't know what it was but we needed more of it in the second half.

What was this week like for you?

CN: I don't know you tell me. I don't even know what was said, I didn't see the interview.

What can you take from this game and the final ones this season?

CN: Sharpen the blades. Still have games to be played. Come out and practice hard each and every day and focus on doing your job on Sundays.

What did you see on your first pick?

CN: Tried to get ball to Steve. Then tried toa void the sack. Threw it with my left hand, should have just taken the sack.

He is going to blow a gasket at some point

He actually looked like he was alternating between being furious and near-tears, felt pretty bad.

Was pretty clear he blamed himself for this loss.

What I don't get is Cam acting like nobody was going to ask him about his comments on the interview this past week. He knew they were going to ask him about it, yet he was so unprepared in response to it. Cam should set a goal for himself, and not do another interview until he reaches a superbowl.

He should set a goal for himself and learn how to handle the media.

Nothing wrong with being downtrodden after a loss but don't blame the reports for asking the obvious question.

He should also thank his lucky stars it is the 'gentle' Charlotte media and not that of NY or Philly or Dallas.

Those reporters were almost timid with him.

Love you Cam, but, you gotta grow up for your own sake.

Didn't watch vid. Did he pull his shirt open to reveal his big "S"?

That is a bit self aggrandizing to me. Would rather see him walk off like he has been there.

From aggrandizement when he scores to super mopey mode during presser is getting old.

He should. Those picks were key. He has to be more consistent if he expects to win in the NFL. Don't understand how he is spot on accurate half the time (or game) and the other half he can't hit the broad side of a barn. Not trying to be hard on him, but after those comments this week, he needs to be able to step up and make plays in crucial situations to close a game sometime. Not that our defense gave him any help, and God, can we hire a kicker tomorrow!??

I really try hard to defend Cam as much as I can. But his poor attitude in pressers is not only annoying, it is unprofessional and not the attitude of a winner. He has a lot to learn when it comes to handling the media, especially when they're tossing him softballs. He's young. Hopefully, he learns and snaps out of it. Not every writer is out to get someone.

Today, on the field, we saw what Cam can be at his full potential (8-10, 147 yds, 2 TD IIRC at one point, so damn good) and what he is when he is not meeting that potential, with the 2 picks. He's got a lot of growing up to do, on and off the field. It'll be interesting to see how he handles both challenges as time goes on. I hope he handles them well.
