Our defense is soft because our starters are on IR, is Thomas Davis soft? Is Beason soft? Is Godfrey soft? No. We don't have time for a little bitch who only cares about himself and costing us games with his penalties.

Beason and Davis are talented......neither bring that nasty edge.

We need a defensive Steve Smith.....and we got no one in that ballpark. Simple and plain. Also Steve would meet a lot of the negative adjectives used in this thread if a non Panther fan was looking at our offense

not saying we should draft that kid.....but we need some attitude to go with our talent.

Okay man I understand were you are coming from. It's not set in stone that Carolina will take him. If we went defense I wouldn't mind seeing him as a pick. Just like the announcers said he is a good prospect but he clearly needs some people around him to help keep him in line. Like I said earlier we do need an OT. Riley Rieff is a better prospect then the Martin from Stanford right now. Luke kuechly LB from Boston college will be a good prospect also and I have no problem taking him between that 8 or 10 spot.

I think Burfict is a great prospect, and would be spectacular here in Carolina. Yes, he has disciplinary problems, but with this core of LBs and a head coach who's a former linebacker who's played on that 85' Bears team, Burfict could become an all-time historical linebacker. (Talking Dick Butkus category)

Now, he's a little flabby and tends to go off and do his own thing, but again under this coach and having Beason in his ear, Burfict will shape up in muscle and become stout in defensive schemes.

I'm torn on Burfict, now that I have some free time from school I've been digging through tape on several prospects. Dissecting his full game tape is pretty simple if you look at a talent aspect, he has insane closing speed, sometimes questionable in coverage, and has a nose for the ball. His size would seemingly make it tough for him to be a WLB, but his speed and lateral movement skills are outstanding for a guy his size. If you went from a physical standpoint alone, he'd be a top 5 pick, unfortunately he has serious character issues that will cause him to fall. I'm not even talking about the highlights he has showing his personal fouls or supposed insubordination, I'm talking his body language on the sidelines and mocking of other players. There's having a nasty edge, which isn't a bad thing and then there's being a big ol' dummy. He seems insubordinate, selfish and mentally unstable. The guy really needs to find a mentor that will help him with his problem. I know first hand as a person who works with at risk youths that Burfict has a long hard road ahead if he doesn't commit to changing. That being said, if he fell to the 2nd round I'd have to take a look at him as a talent value and hope Rivera could mentor the kid.
