Of These 4 Draft Prospects Who Is Your Favorite?

Coples

Gilmore

Floyd

Cox

I chose those 4 because we had them all in for visits, and it seems these are the most realistic players to possibly be available at 9 and should be able to come in and start right away.

Just curious to hear some opinions on these 4 and if you feel there's other possibilities other than Clairborne or Blackmon magically falling to

us feel free chime in with their names and your opinion in them vs those I listed above.

I think it all depends on if Carolina can trade back or not. If they can't, wouldn't surprise me if they made a move to trade up w their second pick to late first or early second.

I think they are going to make a splash this year in the draft. I predict Cox then trade up and grab Wright.

Of those four, Cox is easily as good as the rest and fills a more critical need.

So Cox.

We need defense help NOW. Cox likely won't be ready for real playing time. Coples has better odds to be impactful right away IMO

Cox - The surest thing IMO and helps solidify the DL.

Floyd - Past DUI would scare me a bit, but would make the offense elite.

Coples - Most potential and helps on defense right away, but the highest bust potential of the 4.

Gilmore - Could give us the #2 CB we want, but could struggle at times next season while he adjusts.

I want defense, but won't complain if we go Floyd. I'll trust the staff to make the right call.

I disagree. Primarily due to my reliance on the First Rule of Best Conferences Theorem.

Cox was an impact player and had to be double-teamed consistently in the S-E-C, the best college football conference in the land. And there was never any question about his "motor".

While Coples was playing Boston College and Virginia and Ohio State, Cox was playing Bama, LSU, and Florida.

Thus ends your lesson on the First Rule of Best Conference Theorem. ;)

    • All these rankings have more to do with the writers love or hate for a team.  Morgan, IMO, has done a really good job at building this team.  Yeah, there are a couple of whiffs but for the most part he has done quite well drafting and signing free agents.  22 is a bit low but it's a stupid opinion based on how little a writer knows about the Panthers.
    • When I saw that I was thinking the same thing.  If Evero does have a great season and gets hired as a head coach I wouldn't mind see McD as our DC.  If we do poorly as a team, I definitely would want him to be the front runner for HC.
    • But it's not about not upsetting a player under contract, it's about not causing a rift in the locker room. The players love Bryce, whether as a person or a player doesn't matter.  You can't spend a Top 10 pick on a QB and then still start your #1 overall pick in the last year of their contract. That act alone will cause a massive locker room rift/distraction that would be unavoidable.  Some players will question why you "wasted" a Top 10 pick on a QB you're not going to start instead of someone who can help right away.  While others will question why we are keeping Bryce around for the season when it's clear he's not the future guy at that point. It would just make for a bad start to the rookie's career while causing locker room distractions.  Again, I'd bet this has never happened in this league before with any 1st round QB, let alone the #1 overall pick, and there is a reason for it, which is that it would be epically stupid to do. And I used the Vikings as the example as they're the closest I can think of, because again, there isn't a direct comparison as nobody has ever done it because it's that dumb of an idea (no offense lol).
